Hello All,
I am currently working through ”Keep going with Apps” in Swift Playground. The section in the tutorial “Add a DancingCreature view” will not complete. I have tried to type it is as written in the tutorial and even used the copy and paste button provided. I have restarted the app and my IPad with no success. I have attached a screen shot of the tutorial prompt.
Here is the code block:
import SwiftUI
import Guide
struct DancingCreatures: View {
//#-learning-code-snippet(varDeclaration)
@EnvironmentObject var data : CreatureZoo
var body: some View {
SPCAssessableGroup(view: self) {

ZStack {
/*#-code-walkthrough(dance.forEach)*/
ForEach(data.creatures) { creature in
/*#-code-walkthrough(dance.forEach)*/
/*#-code-walkthrough(dance.textView)*/
Text(creature.emoji)
.resizableFont()
.offset(creature.offset)
.rotationEffect(creature.rotation)
/*#-code-walkthrough(dance.textView)*/
}
}
ZStack {
/*#-code-walkthrough(dance.forEach)*/
ForEach(data.creatures) { creature in
/*#-code-walkthrough(dance.forEach)*/
/*#-code-walkthrough(dance.textView)*/
Text(creature.emoji)

/*#-code-walkthrough(dance.textView)*/
//#-learning-code-snippet(exp1)

/*#-code-walkthrough(dance.onTap)*/
}
}
}
}

DancingCreatures().environmentObject(CreatureZoo())
}
}
Device information: IPad Pro (11 inch, 2nd gen)

Xcode 16 and 26 changes in painful way how the Tab key works during autocomplete.
Previously, pressing Tab would extend the typed text up to the word match.
For example, we have two classes: NSViewController and NSViewCoordinator
BEFORE, typing: "NSV" + Tab used to complete to NSViewCo
Now, in Xcode 26, pressing Tab just use the first suggestion. Stupidly.
Especially when you want DispatchQueue and it gaves you DispatchSemaphore…
That is very inconvenient because very often I want just see all possible cases with some prefix...without need of typing all prefix manually.
How to restore the previous behavior?
How to do autocomplete word-by-word?
Hello,
I am getting the following errors when building a Mac Camera Extension with web sockets. I am using URLSessionWebsocketTask as my web socket library. I built a test program for my code and in there I can see my web sockets are working properly, but when I run it from the System Extension I get the following errors. The socket opens for two - three messages then crashes. I couldnt find any documentation online for the following errors
CMIOExtensionProvider.m:1975:-[CMIOExtensionProvider removeProviderContext:]_block_invoke Unregistered provider context <CMIOExtensionProviderContext: ->, don't be surprised if things go badly
CMIOExtensionProviderContext.m:64:-[CMIOExtensionProviderContext initWithConnection:]_block_invoke [391] received Connection invalid``

A user of my app sent me a crash report. I have never seen one like this before. All of my app's symbols are replaced with three question marks (???)
Thread 0 Crashed:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
0 ??? 0x10844eb40 ???
1 CoreFoundation 0x7ff80f155518 __CFNOTIFICATIONCENTER_IS_CALLING_OUT_TO_AN_OBSERVER__ + 137
and the binary image as
0x0 - 0xffffffffffffffff ??? (*) <00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000> ???
so I cannot find out where exactly the crash happened.
What can cause this kind of crash report and can I do anything with it?

I am developing an application that uses NetworkExtension (Local PUSH function) And VoIP(APNs) PUSH.
Nowadays, I found a problem on this app doesn't handle incoming call of Local PUSH when receiving a Local PUSH after receiving an APNs PUSH.
My confimation result of my app and server log is below.
11:00 AM:
my server(PBX) requests a VoIP(APNs) PUSH notification to the APNs.
But my app does not receive the VoIP(APNs) PUSH.
At this time, my app is running on LAN (Wi-Fi without internet connection), as a result, NetworkExtension was running. so I think this is normal behaviour.
14:55:11 PM:
There is an incoming call from the my server(PBX) via local net, and NetworkExtension calls iOS API(API name is reportIncomingCall).
However, iOS does not call the delegate didReceiveIncomingCallWithUserInfo for the reportIncomingCall.
14:55:11 PM:
At almost the same time, iOS calls the delegate cdidReceiveIncomingPushWithPayload of VoIP PUSH.
(instead of call the delegate didReceiveIncomingCallWithUserInfo for the reportIncomingCall?)
And the content of this VoIP(APNs) PUSH was the incoming call at "11:00 AM".
In other words, the VoIP(APNs) PUSH at 11:00 AM is stuck inside iOS, and at 14:55:11 PM, from NetworkExtension reports it.
I feel there is a problem on iOS doesn't handle incoming call of Local PUSH when receiving a Local PUSH after receiving an VoIP(APNs) PUSH.
Would you tell me Apple's opioion about this?
If this is known problem, Please tell me about it.

All of our uses of CFSockets have started causing crashes in iOS 16. They seem to be deprecated so we are trying to transition over to using the Network framework and NWConnection to try to fix the crashes.
One of our uses of them is to ping a device on the local network to make sure it is there and online and provide a heartbeat status in logs as well as put the application into a disabled state if it is not available as it is critical to the functionality of the app. I know it is discouraged to disable any functionality based on the reachability of a resource but this is in an enterprise environment where the reachability of this device is mission critical.
I've seen other people ask about the ability to ping with the Network framework and the answers I've found have said that this is not possible and pointed people to the SimplePing sample code but it turns out our existing ping code is already using this technique and it is crashing just like our other CFSocket usages, inside CFSocketInvalidate with the error BUG IN CLIENT OF LIBPLATFORM: Trying to recursively lock an os_unfair_lock.
Is there any updated way to perform a ping without using the CFSocket APIs that now seem to be broken/unsupported on iOS 16?
I have Mac apps that embed “Helper Apps” inside their main bundle. The helper apps do work on behalf of the main application.
The helper app doesn’t show a dock icon, it does show minimal UI like an open panel in certain situations (part of NSService implementation). And it does make use of the NSApplication lifecycle and auto quits after it completes all work.
Currently the helper app is inside the main app bundle at: /Contents/Applications/HelperApp.app
Prior to Tahoe these were never displayed to user in LaunchPad but now the Spotlight based AppLauncher displays them.
What’s the recommended way to get these out of the Spotlight App list on macOS Tahoe?
Thanks in advance.
I am submitting my first macOS app for notarization and all submissions have been stuck at "In Progress" for over 24-36 hours. The notarytool log command returns "Submission log is not yet available" for all of them.
App details:
macOS menu bar app (Apple Silicon only, arm64)
Signed with Developer ID Application certificate
Hardened Runtime enabled
Secure timestamp included
No get-task-allow entitlement
Team ID: 3426FSU868
Submission history:
bd5a8bf3-809f-42d5-9ab3-1cb665e4dfa6 (Mar 3, 13:02 UTC) - Status: Invalid
This was expected. It was a Debug build with get-task-allow and missing secure timestamp.
c3e54eef-650e-41ba-ac8f-8948147cc7e1 (Mar 3, 13:06 UTC) - Status: In Progress (36+ hours)

478b7e57-3492-46eb-98fb-04b52bff1f17 (Mar 4, 01:08 UTC) - Status: In Progress (24+ hours)
Submissions 2-4 were all built with Release configuration, signed with Developer ID Application certificate, hardened runtime, and secure timestamp. The codesign output confirms correct signing:
Authority=Developer ID Application: Waseem Khan (3426FSU868)
Authority=Developer ID Certification Authority
Authority=Apple Root CA
I understand first-time submissions may go through in-depth analysis but it has been well over 24 hours for all three. Is there anything wrong with my submissions or is this expected? Any help would be appreciated.

There is a problem with the launchscreen of my application on iPadOS 26.
After release of the windowed mode feature the launchscreen of my fullscreen landscape-only application is being cropped and doesn't stretch to screen's size when the device is in the portrait mode.
How can I fix this?

I understand this is a known issue, but it’s truly unacceptable that it remains unresolved. Allowing users to customize toolbars is a fundamental macOS feature, and it has been broken since the release of macOS 15.
How is it possible that this issue persists even in macOS 15.3 beta (24D5040f)?

I've been trying to build an example of NSStagedMigrationManager from some Core Data migration tests to replace a custom migration manager solution I'd constructed, without much success.
The Core Data model has seven model versions. Most support lightweight migration, but two of the migrations in the middle of the sequence used NSMappingModel.
In the first beta, just attempting to construct an NSStagedMigrationManager from the series of stages failed with an unrecognized selector. That no longer happens in b4, but I now get an error that "Duplicate version checksums across stages detected."
If I restrict myself to just the first three versions of the model (that only require lightweight migration), I can build the migration manager. But if I attempt to use it to migrate a persistent store, it fails somewhere in NSPersistentStoreCoordinator with a nilError.
The documentation is almost nonexistent for this process, and the WWDC session that introduced it isn't much more than a breezy overview. So maybe I'm holding it wrong?
(And, yes: FB12339663)
I keep getting a fails to open page message when I try to sign in using my Claude ai Pro account. The request was for an http url instead of an https url.

Can I use external Swift Package Dependencies for the challenge, or will my app just not run as the testing environment is offline? I have a couple dependencies which are crucial to the running of my submission
I am looking for some insight into current App Store review times.
The Situation:
I submitted my new app for its first review on February 3rd. It has been sitting in the "Waiting for Review" state for 11 days now and has not moved to "In Review."
The Impact:
We had a major launch event planned for today (Feb 14). We have marketing campaigns live and users waiting, but we have officially missed our launch window because the app is still sitting in the queue.
My Questions:
Is anyone else experiencing wait times this long (10+ days) just to enter the review stage?
How much time does it typically take for a first-time submission to go live once it finally enters review?
Is there any way to flag this delay if it has exceeded the standard 48-hour window?
We are losing marketing budget every hour this is delayed. Any advice on how to get this moving would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I am trying to migrate an app to use Network framework for p2p connection. I came across this great article for migrating to Network framework however this doesnt use the new structured concurrency. This being introduced with iOS 26, there doesnt seem to be any sample code available on how to use the new classes. I am particularly interested in code samples showing how to add TLS with PSK encryption support and handling of switching between Wifi and peer to peer interface with the new structured concurrency supported classes. Are there any good resources I can refer on this other than the WWDC video?
Any view that is content for the tabViewBottomAccessory API fails to retain its state as of the last couple of 26.1 betas (and RC). The loss of state happens (at least) when the currently selected tab is switched (filed as FB20901325).
Here's code to reproduce the issue:
struct ContentView: View {
@State private var selectedTab = TabSelection.one
enum TabSelection: Hashable {
case one, two
}
var body: some View {
TabView(selection: $selectedTab) {
Tab("One", systemImage: "1.circle", value: .one) {
BugExplanationView()
}
Tab("Two", systemImage: "2.circle", value: .two) {
BugExplanationView()
}
}
.tabViewBottomAccessory {
AccessoryView()
}
}
}
struct AccessoryView: View {
@State private var counter = 0 // This guy's state gets lost (as of iOS 26.1)
var body: some View {
Stepper("Counter: \(counter)", value: $counter)
.padding(.horizontal)
}
}
struct BugExplanationView: View {
var body: some View {
ScrollView {
VStack(alignment: .leading, spacing: 16) {
Text("(1) Manipulate the counter state")
Text("(2) Then switch tabs")
Text("BUG: The counter state gets unexpectedly reset!")
}
.multilineTextAlignment(.leading)
}
}
}

I can't seem to get hardware tag checks to work in an app launched without the special "Hardware Memory Tagging" diagnostics. In other words, I have been unable to reproduce the crash example at 6:40 in Apple's video "Secure your app with Memory Integrity Enforcement".
When I write a heap overflow or a UAF, it is picked up perfectly provided I enable the "Hardware Memory Tagging" feature under Scheme Diagnostics.
If I instead add the Enhanced Security capability with the memory-tagging related entitlements:
I'm seeing distinct memory tags being assigned in pointers returned by malloc (without the capability, this is not the case)
Tag mismatches are not being caught or enforced, regardless of soft mode
The behaviour is the same whether I launch from Xcode without "Hardware Memory Tagging", or if I launch the app by tapping it on launchpad. In case it was related to debug builds, I also tried creating an ad hoc IPA and it didn't make any difference.
I realise there's a wrinkle here that the debugger sets MallocTagAll=1, so possibly it will pick up a wider range of issues. However I would have expected that a straight UAF would be caught. For example, this test code demonstrates that tagging is active but it doesn't crash:
#define PTR_TAG(p) ((unsigned)(((uintptr_t)(p) >> 56) & 0xF))
void *p1 = malloc(32);
void *p2 = malloc(32);
void *p3 = malloc(32);
os_log(OS_LOG_DEFAULT, "p1 = %p (tag: %u)\n", p1, PTR_TAG(p1));
os_log(OS_LOG_DEFAULT, "p2 = %p (tag: %u)\n", p2, PTR_TAG(p2));
os_log(OS_LOG_DEFAULT, "p3 = %p (tag: %u)\n", p3, PTR_TAG(p3));
free(p2);
void *p2_realloc = malloc(32);
os_log(OS_LOG_DEFAULT, "p2 after free+malloc = %p (tag: %u)\n", p2_realloc, PTR_TAG(p2_realloc));
// Is p2_realloc the same address as p2 but different tag?
os_log(OS_LOG_DEFAULT, "Same address? %s\n",
((uintptr_t)p2 & 0x00FFFFFFFFFFFFFF) == ((uintptr_t)p2_realloc & 0x00FFFFFFFFFFFFFF)
? "YES" : "NO");
// Now try to use the OLD pointer p2
os_log(OS_LOG_DEFAULT, "Attempting use-after-free via old pointer p2...\n");
volatile char c = *(volatile char *)p2; // Should this crash?
os_log(OS_LOG_DEFAULT, "Read succeeded! Value: %d\n", c);
Example output:
p1 = 0xf00000b71019660 (tag: 15)
p2 = 0x200000b711958c0 (tag: 2)
p3 = 0x300000b711958e0 (tag: 3)
p2 after free+malloc = 0x700000b71019680 (tag: 7)
Same address? NO
