I'm following the steps laid out in Creating a static framework which states:
When a client links and embeds the framework, Xcode 15 or later omits the main binary from the embedded framework bundle because it’s already statically linked into the client.
Specifically, I'm adding a new framework target to my project, and then changing the Mach-O type in its build settings to Static Library.
What I'm observing when I build (debug or release) is that that the resulting framework folder inside of the app bundle still contains a binary.
Furthermore, upon inspecting strings and symbols in both the main app executable and this library binary, it appears that my strings and symbols do end up in the main executable and not in the library binary.
Does this mean that this binary is just a stub left behind?
Is this intended?
Can I safely delete this binary with a build phase script?
Hello. For the last few months I have been facing a situation for which I do not understand either the reason or the solution. Here is an example for the last few weeks:
In App Store Connect it shows 214 crashes for the last week
In Xcode it shows 56 crashes for the last 2 weeks without stack traces (NO_CRASH_STACK)
In Firebase Crashlytics there is not a single crash.
When I click "Show in Finder" it opens a folder with .xccrashpoint files. As far as I understood from the instructions on posting crash reports - this is not what is needed.
Interesting point: it looks like the errors occur on iOS 15-16 devices.
I have several questions:
Why is the number of crashes in Xcode different from the number in App Store Connect? Where are the other crashes?
How can I understand what the problem is if there are no stack traces in Xcode?
Hi! A couple of months ago my app was archiving just fine. Since an xcode update the build fails. Here is what shows at the end of the log. Thank you in advance for any help!

Hi, I'm encountering an issue with the .symbols files when building iOS and generating ipa file with Xcode 15.4 vs Xcode 16.1.
I built my iOS project and generated an ipa file using Xcode 15.4. After I unzipped the ipa, there are around 10 .symbols files in the Symbols folder. One of them is about 20MB and others are under 1MB.
However, when I built and generated the ipa with the newer Xcode 16.1, after unzip, there are no .symbols files in the Symbols folder.
Could anyone explain why this happened? Is there a new setting or behavior in Xcode 16.1 that affects the generation of .symbols files?
I think the .symbols files are needed for analyzing crash reports and symbolication, and I’m unsure why they aren’t present in the build generated with Xcode 16.1.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am able to build my iOS app successfully, developed in objective-C with iOS 17.5 SDK and Xcode 15.
Due to requirement of Appstore we are trying to build with iOS 18 SDK and Xcode 16.
When building getting error in LAEnvironmentState.h file:
a) "Property requires field to be named"
b) "Expected member name or ';' after declaration specifiers"
Same app when opening with Xcode 15 gets build without any issue.
Any help/suggestion would be appreciated.

I updated the icons in Xcode to customize the appearance of my app icons to be light, dark, or tinted. The app is allowed to be downloaded and run on iPadOS. The app icon behaves as expected on iOS however the app icon does not change on the iPad. Am I missing a step for the iPad? To be clear the app does not target iPadOS rather it is just running the iOS version.
Thanks
kof

So Xcode has projects. And I breakup my code/libraries/targets into those. So why after 20 years of Xcode, can a workspace, that holds projects not display the same project opened in another workspace? The workspace redirects all output the project would normally generate in DerivedData to a completely different folder by default.
What this means is I have to shut one workspace, and then open the other workspace with a different set of projects to see the ones that are shared. The workspace can't build because it can't open the project shared with another one that is open. VS sln files don't have this issue, so why do workspace files.
When I thought Xcode could not get any worse, here's the most absurd thing I have ever seen developing software in almost 20 years of work.
When building a project, which I haven't touched lately, and last time it was building just fine, it raised errors on a class that doesn't even belong in any way to such project, it only exists in another one. To clarify, we're talking of a project written in C++ which runs only on mac, which is failing due to linker errors, where the linker can not find symbols of a class living in a different project and that is not referenced in any way inside this project. I mean, really? how does Apple manage to make Xcode more and more unstable by the minute? Starting from Xcode 15.1 I was already experiencing much longer building times, due to the fact that it doesn't manage the cache properly and is rebuilding lots of stuff every time..

I am attempting to generate screenshots at various logical times using a watchOS 11 simulator.
% xcrun simctl status_bar "Apple Watch Series 10 (46mm)" override --time 9:06
An error was encountered processing the command (domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain, code=45):
Simulator device failed to complete the requested operation.
Operation not supported
Underlying error (domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain, code=45):
Status bar overrides not supported on this platform.
Operation not supported
Using WatchOS Clock Settings gives me at most 59 minutes in which to succeed.
Even if I had a physical watch for every series and size, I would have to wait up to 23 hours before being able to generate my marketing screenshots to support various user scenarios. With three settings variations, a minimal wait time to get to good marketable content would be on the order of 1 month per app version.

I'm on version 16 of simulator and Xcode. Last Friday, starting the simulator would take 10 seconds at the most. Now, it takes at least 10 minutes. My app target is the same and nothing in my app itself has changed. There's no new software installed and it has plenty of RAM and disk.
When I target my phone, it is instant. So I'm testing / debugging everything on my phone now. When I use the simulator, the initial load is about 10 minutes, then it's fine (using the app itself). But something is causing it to hang when loading. And like I said - last week it was fine. If it was slow when running on my phone, I'd think it was something with me/the app. But it's not.
This is the only messages I get in the system log.

I am having issues loading my model from a Swift Package with the following structure:
| Package.swift
| Sources
| - | SamplePackage
| - | - Core
| - | - | - SamplePackageDataStack.swift
| - | - | - DataModel.xcdatamodeld
| - | - | - | - Model.xcdatamodel ( <- is this new? )
As mentioned, I am not required to list the xcdatamodeld as a resource in my Package manifest.
When trying to load the model in the main app, I am getting
CoreData: error: Failed to load model named DataModel
Code:
In my swift Package:
public class SamplePackageDataStack: NSObject {
public static let shared = SamplePackageDataStack()
private override init() {}
public lazy var persistentContainer: NSPersistentContainer = {
let container = NSPersistentContainer(name: "DataModel")
container.loadPersistentStores(completionHandler: { (storeDescription, error) in
if let error = error as NSError? {
fatalError("Unresolved error \(error), \(error.userInfo)")
}
})
return container
}()
/// The managed object context associated with the main queue. (read-only)
public var context: NSManagedObjectContext {
return self.persistentContainer.viewContext
}
public func saveContext () {
if context.hasChanges {
do {
try context.save()
} catch {
let nserror = error as NSError
fatalError("Unresolved error \(nserror), \(nserror.userInfo)")
}
}
}
}
Main App:
import SamplePackage
class ViewController: UIViewController {
override func viewDidLoad() {
					super.viewDidLoad()
	var container = SamplePackageDataStack.shared.persistentContainer
print(container)
		}
}
Swift Package:
I have an old objc library, that is added as XCFramework to swift package as a binary target.

name: "CoreServices",
dependencies: ["OldContainer"],
path: "CoreServices"
),
.binaryTarget(
name: "OldContainer",
path: "Frameworks/OldContainer.xcframework"
),
]
This serves the purpose, it builds fine and able to run on simulator. However this framework is breaking the Xcode previews.

Based on the error, SCSecureServicesFactory is an objc file inside the XCFramework. Since this is a binary target, I could not add a swift setting module map flag to the XCFramework.
Is there any workaround to get the previews working ? Or Am I blocked until the library is converted into swift ?

Hi,
I am in the last step "preparing for submission" and everything excepts "age rating" is fine. How can I fix this?
I have two apps and on neither i can edit "age rating" :(
why my Xcode organizer can not show Hangs
After updating to 16.3, my project now fails to compile with the diagnostic: "Command SwiftCompile failed with a nonzero exit code".
This is a SwiftUI document project with two local packages, the second of which is a rather large one with 112 SwiftUI files. It is this second package that is failing. There are no issues when compiling with 16.2. Without diagnostics I'm having a bit of difficulty in determining the cause. My thought is to regress the commits unit 16.3 gives a success, or shows issues.
Although I'm not catching a similar issue in the forums, I'm seeing other problems with 16.3. Has anyone else had such build failure isolated to 16.3? Any advice on other ways to approach this problem?
Thanks in advance

Our business is to scan the code to open App Clip, but then App Clip will appear in App Library and Siri Suggestions. This can be opened quickly, but the URL of the last scan will be included. This will cause a problem, for example: if the previous scan was code A, but the user does not scan code B when going to place B and directly opens it through App Library or Siri Suggestions, the code I get is still code A, so the result I want is that I want to know where it was opened from, and then if it is opened quickly, I will clear the URL and remind the user to scan the code again. Or if it is opened by quick opening, do not include the URL
