`UIGraphicsImageRenderer` + `drawHierarchy` gives very flat colors
My setup: a UILabel with text in it and then let aBugRenderer = UIGraphicsImageRenderer(size: aBugLabel.bounds.size) let aBugImage = aBugRenderer.image { context in aBugLabel.drawHierarchy(in: aBugLabel.bounds, afterScreenUpdates: true) } The layout and everything is correct, the image is correct, but I used my colors in the displayP3 color space to configure the source UILabel.textColor And unfortunately, the resulted image ends up being sRGB IEC61966-2.1 color space and the color appears way bleaker than when it's drawn natively. Question: how can I set up the renderer so that it draws the same color.

Is it possible to auto-expand the iOS 26 text selection menu?
I've got a UIKit app that displays a lot of text, and we've completely turned off the system text selection menu and we show our own custom thing instead, to increase discoverability of our text selection actions. But now that iOS 26 can show the full menu even on iPhone, we're looking at switching back to the system menu. It still shows a smaller horizontal-layout menu at first, and then you tap the > symbol to expand to the full menu. Is it possible to jump straight to the full menu, and skip the smaller horizontal one entirely?

Background or Foreground
Hi Team! Has anyone found a reliable way to detect CarPlay connection without the app needing to be in the foreground? I’m exploring a concept where, for example, as someone nears home while driving, a prompt appears on the CarPlay screen asking “Would you like to turn on the lights / open garage?” triggered by proximity and CarPlay connection. Would be cool to have it work automatically, but knowing you're in the car is kind of important. From what I can see, apps can’t reliably detect CarPlay connection unless they’re actively open on the CarPlay screen. Most background detection methods (like external screen connect notifications) appear deprecated. That is, unless you're specifically approved as a "messaging" or "navigation" app that appear to get special privilages to send alerts from the background. If I send an alert (or poll Carplay periodically) it just gives silent/dead response. Is there any approach, framework, entitlement, or UI pattern that could allow a passive trigger or background detection while driving with CarPlay connected? I can't see any way to bring an app to the foreground either. Not looking to abuse any rules... just want to understand if anyone’s found a clean, approved workaround. Thanks in advance!

Conflict UI Display in system tabbar Liquid Glass Effect and custom tabbar with iOS 26 when using Xcode 26 build app
When using UITabBarController and set a custom tabbar: TabBarViewController.swift import UIKit class BaseViewController: UIViewController { override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() } } class HomeViewController: BaseViewController { override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() view.backgroundColor = .red navigationItem.title = "Home" tabBarItem = UITabBarItem(title: "Home", image: UIImage(systemName: "house"), tag: 0) } } class PhoneViewController: BaseViewController { override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() view.backgroundColor = .purple navigationItem.title = "Phone" tabBarItem = UITabBarItem(title: "Phone", image: UIImage(systemName: "phone"), tag: 1) } } class PhotoViewController: BaseViewController { override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() view.backgroundColor = .yellow navigationItem.title = "Photo" tabBarItem = UITabBarItem(title: "Photo", image: UIImage(systemName: "photo"), tag: 1) } } class SettingViewController: BaseViewController { override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() view.backgroundColor = .green navigationItem.title = "Setting" tabBarItem = UITabBarItem(title: "Setting", image: UIImage(systemName: "gear"), tag: 1) } } class TabBarViewController: UITabBarController { override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() let homeVC = HomeViewController() let homeNav = NavigationController(rootViewController: homeVC) let phoneVC = PhoneViewController() let phoneNav = NavigationController(rootViewController: phoneVC) let photoVC = PhotoViewController() let photoNav = NavigationController(rootViewController: photoVC) let settingVC = SettingViewController() let settingNav = NavigationController(rootViewController: settingVC) viewControllers = [homeNav] let dataSource = [ CustomTabBar.TabBarModel(title: "Home", icon: UIImage(systemName: "house")), CustomTabBar.TabBarModel(title: "Phone", icon: UIImage(systemName: "phone")), CustomTabBar.TabBarModel(title: "Photo", icon: UIImage(systemName: "photo")), CustomTabBar.TabBarModel(title: "Setting", icon: UIImage(systemName: "gear")) ] let customTabBar = CustomTabBar(with: dataSource) setValue(customTabBar, forKey: "tabBar") } } CustomTabBar.swift: import UIKit class CustomTabBar: UITabBar { class TabBarModel { let title: String let icon: UIImage? searchable isPresented set too late in a sheet
I have a popover/sheet in iOS which allows users to search and add items to a list. When the sheet is shown, the search should always be active. I am using searchable on a NavigationStack inside the sheet. I am using the isPresented parameter to activate search. My issue is with the animation of the search activation. Even if I use... isPresented: .constant(true) ...the search isn't activated until the sheet has completed it's entrance animation, resulting in two stages of animation. I can't add a video here, but the two images below show the steps I am seeing. First a slide up animation, with the search in the navigation drawer, then a second animation, once the sheet is fully in place, as the search becomes active. Is it possible to merge these two animations, so search is in place when the sheet animates up?

Hide title bar in Xcode preview (macOS)
I am trying to hide the titlebar for a macOS app and despite searching throughout the entire day, there's nothing that points to how I can achieve this. I did find this page in the documentation but I don't understand it. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/uititlebar/titlevisibility How do I remove the part where it says Xcode Previews? I have used the following on my WindowGroup that works perfectly when the app is being run but it doesn't do anything in the preview. .windowStyle(.hiddenTitleBar)

Mixing NavigationLink types (value: and non-value: types)
Hello, I was wondering if someone could clear-up my thinking here. e.g. consider the code below... It has a rootView with a navlink to a childView which in turn has navlinks to GrandchildViews. The root view uses basic navLInks NavigationLink{View} label: {View} The child view uses type-based navLinks navigationLink(value:) {View} and .navigationDestination(for:) {View} I would expect the basic navlinks to work in the root view and the type-based ones to work in the child view. However it appears that both are active when one taps on a link in the child view. e.g. User actions: Start -> RootView is only view on the stack -> (tap on ‘Child View’) -> ChildView is top of the stack -> tap on ‘Alice’ -> a second ChildView is top of the stack with a GrandchildView underneath…. Why does this happen, why are the basic links also applied to the childView's links? Thanks. struct Thing: Identifiable, Hashable { let id = UUID() let name: String } struct RootView: View { var body: some View { NavigationStack { List { NavigationLink { ChildView() } label: { Label("Child View", systemImage: "figure.and.child.holdinghands") } NavigationLink { Text("Hello") } label: { Label("Another navLink item in the list", systemImage: "circle") } } .padding() } } } struct ChildView: View { private var things = [ Thing(name: "Alice"), Thing(name: "Bob"), Thing(name: "Charlie"), ] var body: some View { Text("This is the child view") List { ForEach(things) { thing in NavigationLink(value: thing) { Text(thing.name) } } } .navigationTitle("Child View") .navigationDestination(for: Thing.self) { thing in GrandchildView(thing: thing) } } } struct GrandchildView: View { let thing: Thing var body: some View { Text("This is the GrandchildView: \(thing.name)") } }

Lack of API to access scrubber preview time in AVPlayerViewController (scrubbingTime)
Hi everyone, I'm working with AVPlayerViewController in a tvOS/iOS app and ran into a limitation that I believe some developers face. When using player.currentItem?.currentTime(), we only get the playback time—which is fine while the video is playing. But when the player is paused and the user drags the scrubber, there's no public API to get the time that is currently being previewed under the scrubber thumb (stick), but there's no way to read it programmatically. This becomes a problem when trying to show thumbnail previews or display metadata tied to the scrubbed position.

Detect when app window is being moved
Is there a way to detect when your apps (or any app I guess) is being moved by the user clicking and dragging the main window around the desktop at all? I'm trying to find out if there's a way I can find out if a window is being clicked and dragged and whether there's certain triggers to the movement a little bit like shaking an iPhone with Shake to Undo. Thanks

How to move from Share Extension to the main screen
My app is designed to share and import images with apps such as the File app. I created a program after looking at various information, but the app from which the images are shared does not work, and the screen cannot be moved to the main screen of my app. The program is as follows. How should I modify it? import UIKit import MobileCoreServices import UniformTypeIdentifiers class ShareViewController: UIViewController { let suiteName: String = "group.com.valida.pettyGeneral" let keyString: String = "share-general" override func viewDidLoad() { var nameArray: [String] = [String]() let sharedDefaults: UserDefaults = UserDefaults(suiteName: self.suiteName)! guard let inputItem = self.extensionContext?.inputItems.first as? NSExtensionItem, let attachments = inputItem.attachments else { return } let identifier = UTType.image.identifier let imgAttachments = attachments.filter { $0.hasItemConformingToTypeIdentifier(identifier) } let dispatchGroup = DispatchGroup() for (no, itemProvider) in imgAttachments.enumerated() { dispatchGroup.enter() itemProvider.loadItem(forTypeIdentifier: identifier, options: nil) { [self] item, error in do { if let error = error { throw error } else if let url = item as? URL { let data = try Data(contentsOf: url) let fileManager = FileManager.default let url = fileManager.containerURL(forSecurityApplicationGroupIdentifier: suiteName) if let url = url?.appendingPathComponent(String(no)) { try! data.write(to: url) } nameArray.append(String(no)) } do { dispatchGroup.leave() } } catch { print("Error") do { dispatchGroup.leave() } } } } dispatchGroup.notify(queue: .main) { [self] in // 全ての画像を保存 sharedDefaults.set(nameArray, forKey: self.keyString) sharedDefaults.synchronize() // メニュー画面に移動する openUrl(url: URL(string: "container-general://")) self.extensionContext!.completeRequest(returningItems: [], completionHandler: nil) } } //#selector(openURL(_:))はこの関数がないと作れない @objc func open(_ url: URL) {} func openUrl(url: URL?) { let selector = #selector(open(_ : )) var responder = (self as UIResponder).next while let r = responder, !r.responds(to: selector) { responder = r.next } _ = responder?.perform(selector, with: url) } func openContainerApp() { let url = URL(string: "container-general://") // カスタムスキームを作って指定する var responder: UIResponder? = self while responder != nil { if let application = responder as? Dynamically resizing NSPreferencePane content
Is it not possible to dynamically change or constrain an NSPreferencePane's mainView size? I have looked all over and this doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere. The most I can seemingly do is set the frame and hope the user doesn't resize the window. class scor: NSPreferencePane { override func mainViewDidLoad() { mainView = NSHostingView(rootView: ContentView()) mainView.frame = NSMakeRect(0, 0, 668, 1048) } } Here is a screenshot, just with a simple webview as a test, note the scrollbar: My storyboard is just from the default prefpane Xcode template, nothing special. I looked at the header file for NSPreferencePane and came up with nothing. All I can think of is that this is impossible due to the way they are implemented? The only thing we seemingly have access to is mainView, so I can't like constrain the size of mainView to its parent, for example. Additionally, if I make a new preference pane, and make a button or other view that I choose to resize to fill horizontally and vertically, it does that, but not really? Here is what that looks like: The behaviour is similar to the previous preference pane, the width does adapt correctly, the height stays the same, forever. Not that it really matters but I am using macOS 14.7.6 on an M2 air

Some sharing extensions disabled when running iOS app with Mac Catalyst
When I run my iOS app on a Mac using Mac Catalyst, several sharing options that show up on an iOS device in a share sheet are absent on the Mac. Clicking on Edit Extensions, I see Mail, Message and AirDrop, their switches are on and disabled. All three items show up when I share from Safari or Notes. How can I make Mail, Message and AirDrop available? For example, when sharing data, no share extensions are shown. For text, only Simulator, Shortcuts and Copy are shown.

How to determine which ui control is found first in the view hierarchy, when I assign the same keyboardShortcut () to 2 buttons?
import SwiftUI struct ContentView: View { var body: some View { VStack { Button ("Button 1") { print ("Button 1"); } .keyboardShortcut("k", modifiers: .command) Button ("Button 2") { print ("Button 2"); } .keyboardShortcut("k", modifiers: .command) } } } I the above snippet, I have assigned the same keyboard shortcut (cmd +k) to 2 different buttons. According to the docs, if multiple controls are associated with the same shortcut, the first one found is used. How do I figure out if Button 1 would be found first during the traversal or Button 2 ? Is it based on the order of declaration? Is it always the case that Button 1 would be found first since it was declared before Button 2 ?

UISplitViewController changes behavior of `viewControllers` property on iOS 26
I am attempting to start my application on iOS 26 with Xcode 26. It uses an UISplitViewController that is instantiated through a Storyboard. It uses the "Unspecified" style, which is a holdover from a previous version of iOS. I'm not sure if this is a bug in iOS, or if I am supposed to change it now. The viewControllers property only has the primary view controller on iOS, although it has the primary and detail view controllers on iPadOS. When I start the application on iOS 18.5, it has both primary and detail controllers on both platforms.

In navigationLink closure, FocusState doesn't work in sheet
Hello, I have a question about FocusState, navigationLink and sheet, the code which in navigationLink closure doesn’t work, but work without navigationLink, just like the following code struct ContentView: View { var body: some View { NavigationStack { // this work interView() // this doesn't work NavigationLink { interView() } label: { Text("into interView") } } } } struct interView: View { @FocusState var focusStateA : Int? @State var show : Bool = false @State var text: String = "" var body: some View { ScrollView { VStack { coreView Button("Detail") { show.toggle() } } .sheet(isPresented: $show, content: { coreView }) } } } extension interView { var coreView : some View { VStack { VStack { putdown TextField("hi", text: $text) .focused($focusStateA , equals: 1) } } } var putdown : some View { Button(action: { if focusStateA != nil { focusStateA = nil print("OK") } else { print("It's nil") } }, label: { Text("Put down the keyboard") }) } } and there are some strange phenomena, I must put all view into a scrollview, otherwise, it even doesn’t work without navigationLink This problem has existed in IOS 18, and now in IOS26 still doesn’t be settled, is it a problem or some character?
