NSView.knowsPageRange(_:) called twice when showing print panel
When creating a default macOS document-based Xcode project and using the code below (and wiring the File menu's Print item to printDocument: instead of the default print:, which does nothing), opening the print panel causes PrintView.knowsPageRange(_:) to be called twice. Is this a bug? My app populates PrintView dynamically, and for large documents it can be quite inefficient to populate it once, only for the contents to be immediately discarded and populated again. A workaround that came to my mind would be to check if the print options have changed, though I'm not sure if it's a reliable indicator that the print preview is effectively the same. SwiftUI Tabview - how to "kill" the views we do not use
I have the MainView as the active view if the user is logged in(authenticated). the memory allocations when we run profile is pretty good. We have graphql fetching, we have token handling eg: This is All heap: 1 All Heap & Anonymous VM 13,90 MiB 65408 308557 99,10 MiB 373965 Ratio: %0.14, %0.86 After what i have checked this is pretty good for initialise and using multiple repositories eg. But when we change tabs: 1 All Heap & Anonymous VM 24,60 MiB 124651 543832 156,17 MiB 668483 Ratio: %0.07, %0.40 And that is not pretty good. So i guess we need to "kill" it or something. How? MKGeoJSONDecoder and Single Points
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/mapkit/mkgeojsondecoder?changes=__9&language=objc I am trying to use this decoder to obtain single points form a geojson file. I am able to do this successfully however, when using MapKit for iOS 17+ I am unable to use a ForEach to iterate through these points (stored in an array) and display these on the map as a custom annotation or even a marker. Markdown openURL can not handle property url
I'm trying to render a markdown with a link using Text. If the URL of the link is a static string, then no problem. If the URL is a property, then OpenURLAction gets a string ‘%25@’. detecting modifier keys using UITextFieldDelegate protocol
I have a UITextField in my application, and I want to detect all the keys uniquely to perform all relevant task. However, there is some problem in cleanly identifying some of the keys. I m not able to identify the backspace key press in the textField(_:shouldChangeCharactersIn:replacementString:) method. Also I don't know how to detect the Caps Lock key. I am intending to so this because I want to perform some custom handling for some keys. Can someone help me with what is the way of detecting it under the recommendation from apple. Thanks in advance. Note: checking for replacementString parameter in shouldChangeCharactersIn method for empty does not help for backspace detection as it overlaps with other cases.

Uikit : -[UIApplication _terminateWithStatus:] + 136 (UIApplication.m:7539)
I have a few crash report from TestFlight with this context and nothing else. No symbols of my application. Crash report is attached. crashlog.crash It crashes at 16H25 (local time paris) and a few minutes after (8) I see the same user doing task in background (they download data with a particular URL in BGtasks) with a Delay that is consistant with a background wait of 5 or 7 minutes. I have no more information on this crash and by the way Xcode refuses to load it and shows an error. ( I did a report via Xcode for this).

`.refreshable(action:)` `s indicator will not dismiss after when app into backgound (iOS 17.1)
Hello, I am encountering an issue with .refreshable(action:) in ScrollView. The refresh action works as expected when performing a pull-to-refresh. However, if I put the app in the background while the refresh operation is in progress, the refresh indicator remains visible on the screen when I return to the foreground and does not disappear. Once I interact with the ScrollView after returning to the foreground, the refresh indicator disappears, and the functionality itself is not affected. I initially attempted to resolve this issue by triggering a view redraw when scenePhase changes. However, since my app presents the SwiftUI view using UIHostingController, the scenePhase from the environment does not seem to function correctly. This issue occurs on iOS 17.1 but does not appear on iOS 16.1.1. Is there a known way to resolve this unexpected behavior? Reading large documents
Can the SwiftUI document architecture Take a file as read-only; never to be written out Take files too large for memory (multi-MB, or even GB) I wouldn't want the system to read a gigabyte size file into memory by default. If the system can use a memory-mapped Data as the representation, that'll be something I can make do. It would be even better if I could tell the system that I'll handle all the reading, all I need from it is a reference to the file's location on disk.

Removing SwiftUI View from hierarchy
In a UIKit application, removing a view from the hierarchy is straightforward—we simply call myView.removeFromSuperview(). This not only removes myView from the UI but also deallocates any associated memory. Now that I'm transitioning to SwiftUI, I'm struggling to understand the recommended way to remove a view from the hierarchy, given SwiftUI's declarative nature. I understand that in SwiftUI, we declare everything that should be displayed. However, once a view is rendered, what is the correct way to remove it? Should all UI elements be conditionally controlled to determine whether they appear or not? Below is an example of how I’m currently handling this, but it doesn’t feel like the right approach for dynamically removing a view at runtime. Serious Bug with SwiftUI/ImagePicker/Camera + workaround
I was doing an app which had several "camera" buttons each one dedicated to taking/storing/reviewing/deleting an image associated with a variable URL but what should have been a simple no brainer turned out to be a programming nightmare. To cut a long story short there is a bug in the sheet handling wherebye even tho you have separate instance for each button the camera/picker cylcles sequentially thru the stack of instances for any action finally always placing the image in the first URL. Working with myself debugging, all major AIs (Grok, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity) after 4 x 12hr+ days we finally managed to crack a solution. You can follow the discussion here: https://x.com/i/grok/share/KHeaUPladURmbFq5qy9W506er but be warned its long a detailed but if you are having problems then read ... **Bug Report: Race Conditions with UIImagePickerController in SwiftUI Sheet ** Environment: SwiftUI, iOS 17.7.5 Device: iPad Pro (12.9-inch, 2nd generation) Xcode Version: [Insert your Xcode version] Date: March 30, 2025 **Issue 1: Multiple Instances of UIImagePickerController Spawned After Dismissal ** Description: When using a UIImagePickerController wrapped in a UIViewControllerRepresentable and presented via a SwiftUI .sheet, selecting "Use Photo" resulted in multiple unintended instances of the picker being initialized and presented. The console logs showed repeated "Camera initialized" and "Camera sheet appeared" messages (e.g., multiple <UIImagePickerController: 0x...> instances) after the initial dismissal, despite the sheet being dismissed programmatically. Reproduction Steps: Create a SwiftUI view with a button that sets a @State variable showCamera to true. Present a UIImagePickerController via .sheet(isPresented: $showCamera). Update a @Binding variable (e.g., photoLocation: URL?) in imagePickerController(_:didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:) after saving the image. Dismiss the picker with picker.dismiss(animated: true) and presentationMode.wrappedValue.dismiss(). Observe that updating the @Binding variable triggers a view re-render, causing the .sheet to re-present multiple times before finally staying dismissed. The fix involved delaying the @Binding update (photoLocation) until after the picker and sheet were fully dismissed, ensuring showCamera was reset to false before the view re-rendered: Introduced an onPhotoPicked: (URL) -> Void closure to decouple the photoLocation update from the dismissal timing. Modified the coordinator to call onPhotoPicked and reset showCamera before initiating dismissal:swift Issue 2: Single Unintended Picker Reopen After Initial Fix Description: After addressing the multiple-instance issue, a single unintended reopen of the picker persisted. The logs showed one additional "Camera initialized" and "Camera sheet appeared" after "Use Photo," before the final dismissal. Reproduction Steps: Reproduction Steps: Use the initial fix with onPhotoPicked and delayed photoLocation update. Take a photo and select "Use Photo." Observe one extra picker instance appearing briefly before dismissal completes. Root Cause: The @Binding update (photoLocation) was still occurring too early in the dismissal sequence. Although delayed until after picker.dismiss, the view re-render happened while showCamera was still true during the dismissal animation, causing the .sheet to re-present once before onDismiss reset showCamera. Siri Intent Dialog with custom SwiftUIView not responding to buttons with intent
I have created an AppIntent and added it to shortcuts to be able to read by Siri. When I say the phrase, the Siri intent dialog appears just fine. I have added a custom SwiftUI View inside Siri dialog box with 2 buttons with intents. The callback or handling of those buttons is not working when initiated via Siri. It works fine when I initiate it in shortcuts. I tried using the UIButton without the intent action as well but it did not work. Food Truck Sample animation issue from Table Component
Hi! I'm seeing some weird animation issues building the Food Truck sample application.^1 I'm running from macOS 15.4 and Xcode 16.3. I'm building the Food Truck application for macOS. I'm not focusing on iOS for now. The FoodTruckModel adds new Order values with an animation: // FoodTruckModel.swift withAnimation(.spring(response: 0.4, dampingFraction: 1)) { self.orders.append(orderGenerator.generateOrder(number: orders.count + 1, date: .now, generator: &generator)) } This then animates the OrdersTable when new Order values are added. Here is a small change to OrdersTable: // OrdersTable.swift - @State private var sortOrder = [KeyPathComparator(\Order.status, order: .reverse)] + @State private var sortOrder = [KeyPathComparator(\Order.creationDate, order: .reverse)] Running the app now inserts new Order values at the top. The problem is I seem to be seeing some weird animation issues here. It seems that as soon as the new Order comes in there is some kind of weird glitch where it appears as if part the animation is coming from the side instead of down from the top: What's then more weird is that if I seem to affect the state of the Table in any way then the next Order comes in with perfect animation. Scrolling the Table fixes the animation. Changing the creationData sort order from reverse to forward and back to reverse fixes the animation. Any ideas? Is there something about how the Food Truck product is built that would cause this to happen? Is this an underlying issue in the SwiftUI infra?

[NSRulerView] Is it buggy in Monterey?
I have a NSRulerView with a vertical orientation. It works fine from macOS 10.13 to 11.x. In macOS Monterey (12.2.1 here), the ruler view is not receiving drawHashMarksAndLabelsInRect: messages when the associated NSTextView is scrolled vertically. When the parent NSScrollView is resized, the ruler view is correctly refreshed on all macOS versions. [Q] Is it a known bug in macOS Monterey?

iOS18 iPad Custom UITabBar invalid

Document-based app failing in Mac Catalyst
A document-based app that's been running fine on iPad and Mac Catalyst has stopped working on the Mac as of Sequoia 15.3. After the user selects a document to open, my app never gets called back from Apple's framework. (The app works fine on iPadOS.) Anybody else see this? I filed a feedback, FB16506048, several weeks ago but have had no reply.

WKWebView: Select Text and scroll beyond what's visible
Prime Objective I am trying to have a scroll view with a fixed header, a fixed footer, and a WKWebView in between. Using JavaScript, the height of the webView is determined and set to be large enough to hold the entire content. The Problem When selecting text on the webView, the view does not scroll when the edges are reached (this works if the webView is shown without being embedded in a Scroll view, or if it is the last element) What did I try?
