FromToByAnimation triggers availableAnimations not the single bone animation
So, I was trying to animate a single bone using FromToByAnimation, but when I start the animation, the model instead does the full body animation stored in the availableAnimations. If I don't run testAnimation nothing happens. If I run testAnimation I see the same animation as If I had called entity.playAnimation(entity.availableAnimations[0],..) here's the full code I use to animate a single bone: func testAnimation() { guard let jawAnim = jawAnimation(mouthOpen: 0.4) else { print("Failed to create jawAnim") return } guard let creature, let animResource = try? AnimationResource.generate(with: jawAnim) else { return } let controller = creature.playAnimation(animResource, transitionDuration: 0.02, startsPaused: false) print("controller: \(controller)") } func jawAnimation(mouthOpen: Float) -> FromToByAnimation<JointTransforms>? { guard let basePose else { return nil } guard let index = basePose.jointNames.firstIndex(of: jawBoneName) else { print("Target joint \(self.jawBoneName) not found in default pose joint names") return nil } let fromTransforms = basePose.jointTransforms let baseJawTransform = fromTransforms[index] let maxAngle: Float = 40 let angle: Float = maxAngle * mouthOpen * (.pi / 180) let extraRot = simd_quatf(angle: angle, axis: simd_float3(x: 0, y: 0, z: 1)) var toTransforms = basePose.jointTransforms toTransforms[index] = Transform( scale: baseJawTransform.scale * 2, rotation: baseJawTransform.rotation * extraRot, translation: baseJawTransform.translation ) let fromToBy = FromToByAnimation<JointTransforms>( jointNames: basePose.jointNames, name: "jaw-anim", from: fromTransforms, to: toTransforms, duration: 0.1, bindTarget: .jointTransforms, repeatMode: .none, ) return fromToBy } PS: I can confirm that I can set this bone to a specific position if I use guard let index = newPose.jointNames.firstIndex(of: boneName) ... let baseTransform = basePose.jointTransforms[index] newPose.jointTransforms[index] = Transform( scale: baseTransform.scale, rotation: baseTransform.rotation * extraRot, translation: baseTransform.translation ) skeletalComponent.poses.default = newPose creatureMeshEntity.components.set(skeletalComponent) This works for manually setting the bone position, so the jawBoneName and the joint-transformation can't be that wrong.

Index out of range crash: internal framework
Hi there, I'm developing a visionOS app that is using the anchor points and mesh from SceneReconstructionProvider anchor updates. I load an ImmersiveSpace using a RealityView and apply a ShaderGraphMaterial (from a Shader Graph in Reality Composer Pro) to the mesh and use calls to setParameter to dynamically update the material on very rapid frequency. The mesh is locked (no more updates) before the calls to setParameter. This process works for a few minutes but then eventually I get the following error in the console: assertion failure: Index out of range (operator[]:line 789) index = 13662, max = 1 With the following stack trace: Thread 1 Queue : com.apple.main-thread (serial) #0 0x00000002880f90d0 in __abort_with_payload () #1 0x000000028812a6dc in abort_with_payload_wrapper_internal () #2 0x000000028812a710 in abort_with_payload () #3 0x0000000288003f40 in _os_crash_msg () #4 0x00000001dc9ff624 in re::ecs2::ComponentBucketsBase::addComponent () #5 0x00000001dc9ffadc in re::ecs2::ComponentBucketsBase::moveComponent () #6 0x00000001dc8b0278 in re::ecs2::MaterialParameterBlockArrayComponentStateImpl::processPreparingComponents () #7 0x00000001dc8b05e4 in re::ecs2::MaterialParameterBlockArraySystem::update () #8 0x00000001dd008744 in re::Scheduler::executePhase () #9 0x00000001dc032ec4 in re::Engine::executePhase () #10 0x0000000248121898 in RCPSharedSimulationExecuteUpdate () #11 0x00000002264e488c in __59-[MRUISharedSimulation _doJoinWithConnectionContext:error:]_block_invoke.44 () #12 0x0000000268c5fe9c in _UIUpdateSequenceRunNext () #13 0x00000002696ea540 in schedulerStepScheduledMainSectionContinue () #14 0x000000026af8d284 in UC::DriverCore::continueProcessing () #15 0x00000001a1bd4e6c in CFRUNLOOP_IS_CALLING_OUT_TO_A_SOURCE0_PERFORM_FUNCTION () #16 0x00000001a1bd4db0 in __CFRunLoopDoSource0 () #17 0x00000001a1bd44f0 in __CFRunLoopDoSources0 () #18 0x00000001a1bd3640 in __CFRunLoopRun () #19 0x00000001a1bce284 in _CFRunLoopRunSpecificWithOptions () #20 0x00000001eff12d2c in GSEventRunModal () #21 0x00000002697de878 in -[UIApplication _run] () #22 0x00000002697e33c0 in UIApplicationMain () #23 0x00000001b56651e4 in closure #1 (Swift.UnsafeMutablePointer<Swift.Optional<Swift.UnsafeMutablePointer<Swift.Int8>>>) -> Swift.Never in SwiftUI.KitRendererCommon(Swift.AnyObject.Type) -> Swift.Never () #24 0x00000001b5664f08 in SwiftUI.runApp<τ_0_0 where τ_0_0: SwiftUI.App>(τ_0_0) -> Swift.Never () #25 0x00000001b53ad570 in static SwiftUI.App.main() -> () () #26 0x0000000101bc7b9c in static MetalRendererApp.$main() () #27 0x0000000101bc7bdc in main () #28 0x0000000197fd0284 in start () Any advice on how to solve this or prevent the error? SpatialEventGesture Not Working to Show Hidden Menu in Immersive Panorama View - visionOS
SpatialEventGesture Not Working to Show Hidden Menu in Immersive Panorama View - visionOS Problem Description I'm developing a Vision Pro app that displays 360° panoramic photos in a full immersive space. I have a floating menu that auto-hides after 5 seconds, and I want users to be able to show the menu again using spatial gestures (particularly pinch gestures) when it's hidden. However, the SpatialEventGesture implementation is not working as expected. The menu doesn't appear when users perform pinch gestures or other spatial interactions in the immersive space. Current Implementation Here's the relevant gesture detection code in my ImmersiveView: import SwiftUI import RealityKit struct ImmersiveView: View { @EnvironmentObject var appModel: AppModel @Environment(\.openWindow) private var openWindow var body: some View { RealityView { content in // RealityView content setup with panoramic sphere... let rootEntity = Entity() content.add(rootEntity) // Load panoramic content here... } // Using SpatialEventGesture to handle multiple spatial gestures .gesture( SpatialEventGesture() .onEnded { eventCollection in // Check menu visibility state if !appModel.isPanoramaMenuVisible { // Iterate through event collection to handle various gestures for event in eventCollection { switch event.kind { case .touch: print("Detected spatial touch gesture, showing menu") showMenuWithGesture() return case .indirectPinch: print("Detected spatial pinch gesture, showing menu") showMenuWithGesture() return case .pointer: print("Detected spatial pointer gesture, showing menu") showMenuWithGesture() return @unknown default: print("Detected unknown spatial gesture: \(event.kind)") showMenuWithGesture() return } } } } ) // Keep long press gesture as backup .simultaneousGesture( LongPressGesture(minimumDuration: 1.5) .onEnded { _ in if !appModel.isPanoramaMenuVisible { print("Detected long press gesture, showing menu") showMenuWithGesture() } } ) } private func showMenuWithGesture() { if !appModel.isPanoramaMenuVisible { appModel.showPanoramaMenu() if !appModel.windowExists(id: "PanoramaMenu") { openWindow(id: "PanoramaMenu", value: "menu") } } } } What I've Tried Multiple SpatialTapGesture approaches: Originally tried using multiple .gesture() modifiers with SpatialTapGesture(count: 1) and SpatialTapGesture(count: 2), but realized they override each other. SpatialEventGesture implementation: Switched to SpatialEventGesture to handle multiple event types (.touch, .indirectPinch, .pointer), but pinch gestures still don't trigger the menu. Added debugging: Console logs show that the gesture callbacks are never called when performing pinch gestures in the immersive space. Backup LongPressGesture: Added a simultaneous long press gesture as backup, which also doesn't work consistently. Expected Behavior When the panorama menu is hidden (after 5-second auto-hide), users should be able to: Perform a pinch gesture (indirect pinch) to show the menu Tap in space to show the menu Use other spatial gestures to show the menu Questions Is SpatialEventGesture the correct approach for detecting gestures in a full immersive RealityView? Are there any special considerations for gesture detection when the RealityView contains a large panoramic sphere that might be intercepting gestures? Should I be using a different gesture approach for visionOS immersive spaces? Is there a way to ensure gestures work even when the RealityView content (panoramic sphere) might be blocking them? Environment Xcode 16.1 visionOS 2.5 Testing on Vision Pro device App uses SwiftUI + RealityKit Any guidance on the proper way to implement spatial gesture detection in visionOS immersive spaces would be greatly appreciated! Additional Context The app manages multiple windows and the gesture detection should work specifically when in the immersive panorama mode with the menu hidden. Thank you for any help or suggestions!

How to mix Animation and IKRig in RealityKit
I want an AR character to be able to look at a position while still playing the characters animation. So far, I managed to manually adjust a single bone rotation using skeletalComponent.poses.default = Transform( scale: baseTransform.scale, rotation: lookAtRotation, translation: baseTransform.translation ) which I run at every rendering update, while a full body animation is running. But of course, hardcoding single joints to point into a direction (in my case the head) does not look as nice, as if I were to run some inverse cinematic that includes, hips + neck + head joints. I found some good IKRig code in Composing interactive 3D content with RealityKit and Reality Composer Pro. But when I try to adjust rigs while animations are playing, the animations are usually winning over the IKRig changes to the mesh.

Safari-like toolbar in visionOS
I like the toolbar visionOS's Safari uses for back & forward page, share, etc. It floats above the window. My attempt to do this with ornaments isn't as satisfying as they partially cover the window. My attempts with toolbar haven't produced visible results. Is this Safari-style toolbar for visionOS exposed by Apple in the API's? If so, could someone point me to documentation or sample code? Thanks!

Summon gesture
Can you help to write a code able to pick an element a bit far from me, then bring it near to me, flick it a bit and then send it back to its original position when I release it? Thanks a lot, Christophe

ManipulationComponent in both parent and child entities
Hello, In my project, I have attached a ManipulationComponent to Entity A and as expected, I'm able interact with it using the built-in gestures. I have another Entity B which is a child of A that I would like to interact with as well, so I attempted to add a ManipulationComponent to B. However, no gestures seem to be registered on B; I can still interact with A but B cannot be interacted with despite having ManipulationComponents on both entities. So I'm wondering if I'm just doing something wrong, if this is an issue with the ManipulationComponent, or if this is a limitation of the API. Attached is the code used to add the ManipulationComponent to an Entity and it was done on both A and B: let mc = ManipulationComponent() model.components.set(mc) var boxShape = ShapeResource.generateBox(width: 0.25, height: 0.05, depth: 0.25) boxShape = boxShape.offsetBy(translation: simd_float3(0, -0.05, -0.25)) ManipulationComponent.configureEntity(model, collisionShapes: [boxShape]) if var mc = model.components[ManipulationComponent.self] { mc.releaseBehavior = .stay mc.dynamics.inertia = .low model.components.set(mc) } I am using visionOS 26.0; let me know if there's any additional information needed.

Unable to Retain Main App Window State When Transitioning to Immersive Space
In Vision OS app, I have two types of windows: Main App Window – This is the default window that launches when the app starts. It displays the video listings and other primary content. Immersive Space Window – This opens only when a user starts streaming or playing a video. Issue: When entering the immersive space, the main app window remains visible in front of it unless manually closed. To avoid this, I currently close the main window when transitioning to immersive space and reopen it when exiting from immersive space. However, this causes the app to restart instead of resuming from its previous state. Desired Behavior: I want the main app window to retain its state and seamlessly resume from where it was before entering immersive mode, rather than restarting. Attempts & Challenges: Tried managing opacity, visibility but none worked as expected. Couldn’t find a way to push the main window to the background while bringing the immersive space to the foreground. Looking for a solution to keep the main window’s state intact while transitioning between immersive and normal modes.

Share Extensions embedded in visionOS apps
I'm trying to add a feature to my app to allow a user to import items from other apps, like Safari, via the share sheet. I've done this many times on iOS/iPadOS easily with a Share Extension. From what I can tell, Xcode tells me share extensions are not available on visionOS - though my experience on device tells me differently (It seems Reminders, Notes & more implement them somehow.) I was finally able to get it working on device only...but I can now no longer test in the simulator, and have not found a way to distribute this app. When attempting to run on the simulator, I get this issue: Please try again later. Appex bundle at /Users/jason/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices/09A70160-4F4F-4F5E-B679-F6F7D876D7EF/data/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installd.staging/temp.6OAEZp/extracted/LaunchBar.app/PlugIns/LaunchBarShareExtension.appex with id co.swiftfox.LaunchBar.ShareExtension specifies a value (com.apple.share-services) for the NSExtensionPointIdentifier key in the NSExtension dictionary in its Info.plist that does not correspond to a known extension point. When trying to archive an upload to test flight, I get this similar error: Invalid Info.plist value. The value for the key 'DTPlatformName' in bundle LaunchBar.app/PlugIns/LaunchBarShareExtension.appex is invalid. (ID: 207610c7-b7e1-48be-959b-22a43cd32d16) The app is for visionOS only - which I'm thinking might be the problem? The share extension is "Designed For iPhone" and requires me to include iPhone as a run destination. In the worst case I can build an iPhone UI for the app but I'd rather not, as it is very specific to visionOS. Has anyone successfully launched a share extension on a visionOS only app? I have an iPad app with a share extension that shows up fine on visionOS, but the issue seems to be specifically with visionOS only apps.

Can not remove final World Anchor
I’ve been having some issues removing anchors. I can add anchors with no issue. They will be there the next time I run the scene. I can also get updates when ARKit sends them. I can remove anchors, but not all the time. The method I’m using is to call removeAnchor() on the data provider. worldTracking.removeAnchor(forID: uuid) // Yes, I have also tried `removeAnchor(_ worldAnchor: WorldAnchor)` This works if there are more than one anchor in a scene. When I’m down to one remaining anchor, I can remove it. It seems to succeed (does not raise an error) but the next time I run the scene the removed anchor is back. This only happens when there is only one remaining anchor. do { // This always run, but it doesn't seem to "save" the removal when there is only one anchor left. try await worldTracking.removeAnchor(forID: uuid) } catch { // I have never seen this block fire! print("Failed to remove world anchor \(uuid) with error: \(error).") } I posted a video on my website if you want to see it happening. https://stepinto.vision/labs/lab-051-issues-with-world-tracking/ Here is the full code. Can you see if I’m doing something wrong? Is this a bug? struct Lab051: View { @State var session = ARKitSession() @State var worldTracking = WorldTrackingProvider() @State var worldAnchorEntities: [UUID: Entity] = [:] @State var placement = Entity() @State var subject : ModelEntity = { let subject = ModelEntity( mesh: .generateSphere(radius: 0.06), materials: [SimpleMaterial(color: .stepRed, isMetallic: false)]) subject.setPosition([0, 0, 0], relativeTo: nil) let collision = CollisionComponent(shapes: [.generateSphere(radius: 0.06)]) let input = InputTargetComponent() subject.components.set([collision, input]) return subject }() var body: some View { RealityView { content in guard let scene = try? await Entity(named: "WorldTracking", in: realityKitContentBundle) else { return } content.add(scene) if let placementEntity = scene.findEntity(named: "PlacementPreview") { placement = placementEntity } } update: { content in for (_, entity) in worldAnchorEntities { if !content.entities.contains(entity) { content.add(entity) } } } .modifier(DragGestureImproved()) .gesture(tapGesture) .task { try! await setupAndRunWorldTracking() } } var tapGesture: some Gesture { TapGesture() .targetedToAnyEntity() .onEnded { value in if value.entity.name == "PlacementPreview" { // If we tapped the placement preview cube, create an anchor Task { let anchor = WorldAnchor(originFromAnchorTransform: value.entity.transformMatrix(relativeTo: nil)) try await worldTracking.addAnchor(anchor) } } else { Task { // Get the UUID we stored on the entity let uuid = UUID(uuidString: value.entity.name) ?? UUID() do { try await worldTracking.removeAnchor(forID: uuid) } catch { print("Failed to remove world anchor \(uuid) with error: \(error).") } } } } } func setupAndRunWorldTracking() async throws { if WorldTrackingProvider.isSupported { do { try await session.run([worldTracking]) for await update in worldTracking.anchorUpdates { switch update.event { case .added: let subjectClone = subject.clone(recursive: true) subjectClone.isEnabled = true subjectClone.name = update.anchor.id.uuidString subjectClone.transform = Transform(matrix: update.anchor.originFromAnchorTransform) worldAnchorEntities[update.anchor.id] = subjectClone print("🟢 Anchor added \(update.anchor.id)") case .updated: guard let entity = worldAnchorEntities[update.anchor.id] else { print("No entity found to update for anchor \(update.anchor.id)") return } entity.transform = Transform(matrix: update.anchor.originFromAnchorTransform) print("🔵 Anchor updated \(update.anchor.id)") case .removed: worldAnchorEntities[update.anchor.id]?.removeFromParent() worldAnchorEntities.removeValue(forKey: update.anchor.id) print("🔴 Anchor removed \(update.anchor.id)") if let remainingAnchors = await worldTracking.allAnchors { print("Remaining Anchors: \(remainingAnchors.count)") } } } } catch { print("ARKit session error \(error)") } } } }

Setting immerstionStyle while in immersive space breaks all entities.
I have my immersive space set up like: ImmersiveSpace(id: "Theater") { ImmersiveTeleopView() .environment(appModel) .onAppear() { appModel.immersiveSpaceState = .open } .onDisappear { appModel.immersiveSpaceState = .closed } } .immersionStyle(selection: .constant(appModel.immersionStyle.style), in: .mixed, .full) Which allows me to set the immersive style while in the space (from a Picker on a SwiftUI window). The scene responds correctly but a lot of the functionality of my immersive space is gone after the change in style; in that I am no longer able to enable/disable entities (which I also have a toggles for in the SwiftUI window). I have to exit and reenter the immersive space to regain the ability to change the enabled state of my entities. My appModel.immersionStyle is inspired by the Compositor-Services demo (although I am using a RealityView) listed in https://developer.apple.com/documentation/CompositorServices/interacting-with-virtual-content-blended-with-passthrough and looks like this: public enum IStyle: String, CaseIterable, Identifiable { case mixedStyle, fullStyle public var id: Self { self } var style: ImmersionStyle { switch self { case .mixedStyle: return .mixed case .fullStyle: return .full } } } /// Maintains app-wide state @MainActor @Observable class AppModel { // Immersion Style public var immersionStyle: IStyle = .mixedStyle
