There is no problem with the content display of each tab, but the tab bar is completely buggy. If you open 5 or more tabs and browse tabs after the 5, the first 4 tab bars will be completely blacked out, and you don't even know how many tabs you have. If you click on the place where the tab title probably exists, the tab is displayed as if the partial display of the tab bar has been restored. There is no problem with content display. But because it is unclear what tab is open, the browsing experience is at its lowest. If you switch to the tab after the 5th, the first 4 will return to the blackout state again. Of course, it is the latest software configuration at the moment. There is no shortage of memory at 24GB. I recently started developing a Safari extension with AppExtension, but is that due to it?

With most recent Safari update, our page started having some of it's core functionality broken while users access it on Private mode due to Fingerprinting protection. The issue is that the code that breaks is our first-party code and I want understand why it is breaking and how to properly fix it. One thing we discovered was that a service of ours that uses the same code base doesn't have these issues and current assumption is that their page bundles are served on the same domain as the actual page request, while ours is coming from a different one. The other assumption was that the domain which we use for serving the bundles of the page are set on the domain that is flagged as tracking domain. Is there some documentation on how Safari decides which code is allowed reading user inputs and which isn't and what is the appropriate approach to fix this issue as it would be possible that these changes get release as default in the future?

Our app is an enterprise app via MDM. We are experiencing an issue in iPadOS 18.4 when loading an internal HTTPS server via WKWebView in a hybrid iOS app. Our server uses a self-signed certificate but lacks the digitalSignature usage in its Key Usage extension. (Currently we have no chance to change the server's certificate) We override webView:didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge:completionHandler: to trust the certificate: completionHandler(NSURLSessionAuthChallengeUseCredential, credential); This "completionHandler" works in previous 18.3.2 , but not work in 18.4. May I know is there any changes in 18.4 for the https certification? Why this delegate not work? What we can do to ignore this ssl error and get connection? When trying to create an anchor with the download attribute it does not work for PDF files, it displays the files inline. Also when the download attribute is set the target attribute is ignored too. The tag: ... The behavior: It displaies the file in line. The correct behavior: The file should be downloaded and not displayed or at least displayed but with the "_blank" target (new tab). This is an issue when working with WebSockets which is closed when the file is opened inline.

I have a working answerer-only WebRTC client to view video from a remote device. This client, works in all common web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.) except in Safari. After trying to debug the problem, I noticed that after calling await peerConnection.setLocalDescription(answer); RTCPeerConnection.iceGatheringState never changes to the "gathering" state and stays the default initial "new" state. This is a problem because the ICE candidates can never be gathered and thus the client in Safari does not work at all. What is surprising and weird is that by explicitly calling setLocalDescription(), ICE gathering should start as mentioned in the documentation: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/RTCPeerConnection/icecandidate_event. However, in Safari, this never happens. I experienced this issue in both Safari 18.x and 21.x versions.

Dears, We are facing some issue in ios 18.4.1. Recently some of our end users who updated their ios devices to 18.4.1 have experienced random 403 errors in runtime. as per our analysis, We identified that these errors are associated with "CSRF token mismatch". After successful login, the user's CSRF token is causing issue and it was changed in runtime, this causes the cookie mismatch, and the users is getting 403 errors, and the user session is getting invalid suddenly. let me know if anyone facing the same issue in ios 18.4.1 and let me know Is there any workaround for this issue. When I watch a video on public safari and then it exit the video it immediately takes me to the private tab but when I go on the private tab to watch videos and exit out it takes me back to the website just like normal. Its a pretty annoying bug and I watch all my videos in the private tab because of it

After the first installation (out of AppStore) of the extension in the browser, the content script is correctly inserted into the page (twice for some reason) and a message is sent from the root of the content script to the background script, which responds correctly. I have an app which has at least two extensions: A Content Blocker extension with a request handler that returns an appropriate NSExtensionItem as part of beginRequest. A different file URL is returned depending upon if the content blocking is on or off by a user setting A Safari Web Extension that includes a toolbar button and popover that enables users to enable or disable the ad blocking of the content blocker extension All three targets (App, Content Blocker appex and Web Extension appex) use an App Group default to read and set the on or off status of the content blocking. When the user changes the content blocking status, the app group default is updated and SFContentBlockerManager.reloadContentBlocker(...) is called. The Content Blocker extension reads the default and then returns the appropriate file URL. The issue is, I have noticed that whenever SFContentBlockerManager.reloadContentBlocker(...) is called from the app, Safari always applies the correct rules from the returned file URL. However sometimes when SFContentBlockerManager.reloadContentBlocker(...) is called from the Safari Web Extension using native messaging, Safari does NOT apply the correct rules from the returned file URL. Using logging I have confirmed that the Content Blocker extension always returns the appropriate file URL irrespective if called as a result of the app or the web extension. Despite this, Safari does not seem to always apply the returned file URL rules when it is called from the Safari Web Extension appex. In these cases, quitting Safari and relaunching it seems to make it apply the rules correctly (obviously this is applying it due to its launch state, not due to the Web extension appex asking it to do so at that point). All targets have access to the App Group location where the active content blocking file URL belongs and the inactive content blocking file URL is within the Safari content blocker target as a resource. I don't think this is a memory status issue as I cannot see the Content Blocker extension being killed when it returns complex rules --- the fact it always works when called via the app also seems to rule this possibility out. This brings up a number of questions: Is calling SFContentBlockerManager.reloadContentBlocker(...) from a different appex, of the same app target and app group supported? (it seems to work sometimes and did work in previous versions of the app). Is there an issue that the Content Blocker extension sometimes returns a file URL that perhaps the calling Web Extension appex may not have access to (even though Safari should via the Content Blocker extension)? Any other ideas of why this may not be working correctly? Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to happen on both iOS and macOS Safari using the same codebase.

I am calling fetch with a POST on page1 in Safari. No special cache parameters on the fetch call. The response from the server is a 303 redirect to page2 The second page -- page2 -- is in my browser's cache with cache-control "public, max-age=31536000, immutable". For some reason, the page2 redirect is causing a server hit to re-GET the second page every time instead of pulling from cache. If I instead directly get the second page by doing a fetch on page2, there is no server hit. If I do this on Chrome or Firefox, it behaves as I would expect, pulling page2 from the cache with no server hit. In case it matters, the fetch is coming from within an iFrame. Also, if I change the original POST to a GET, the problem still happens. I am using a pretty old version of Safari on my Mac, so I could chalk it up to that, but I am getting the same behavior with Safari on my iPhone with iOS 18.3.2 Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi all, I'm developing an application that uses WKWebView to display a web application which I augment with iOS native utilities such as Speech to Text and IAP. The application also uses Service workers, so we define AppBound Domains in the info.plist file. Everything works for this, but when we deploy on a device the application will crash and say we need these entitlements com.apple.developer.web-browser-engine.networking, com.apple.developer.web-browser-engine.rendering, com.apple.developer.web-browser-engine.webcontent, com.apple.runningboard.assertions.webkit From what I can see, we do need all of them. However Apple suggest submitting a request to be an Altnerative Browser (https://developer.apple.com/support/alternative-browser-engines) This is not appropriate for the application in my view since one requirement of being an alternative browser is that you don't modify the resources on the web site - we of course do since we inject javascript in order to bridge between iOS and the contents of the webview. How are people navigating this issue? I assumed it would be common given the use of Tauri etc. to build similar types of applications, but I don't see much about it. Thank you!

From a mail app or similar, when opening a webpage in Safari as an external browser, JavaScript on the webpage stops running if Safari goes into the background. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Sample code for the counter: Behavior: Upon returning from the background, the counter continues for about 7-8 seconds but does not progress further. For example, if Safari is kept in the background for about 20 seconds and then brought back, the counter stops at around 7-8 seconds and only resumes counting after returning to the foreground. Expectation: The counter should continue running even if Safari goes into the background.

I am trying to cache fonts natively in a hybrid app, so that CSS hosted in an https website loaded in WKWebView through loadRequest can reference them like this for a performance boost: @font-face { font-family: 'MyFont'; src: url('my-assets://Gordita-bold-subset.woff') format('woff'); font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; } The problem happens when I register a WKURLSchemeHandler for my-assets. The handler never gets called and the Safari Web Insepctor shows this: [blocked] The page at https://www.x.com/ requested insecure content from my-assets://Gordita-bold-subset.woff. This content was blocked and must be served over HTTPS. Interestingly enough, if we try to serve content with <img src="my-assets://test.png" this restriction does not apply. Are there any workarounds other than using the private API WKProcessPool._registerURLSchemeAsSecure?

After reading several posts I see that I need to add the "com.apple.developer.web-browser.public-key-credential" capability to my macOS app in order to get it to work. So my noob question is where do I request this capability? Can I as a developer request it or does the Account owner need to request it? Once approved, how do I add it to my app's capabilities?
