TTS Audio Unit Extension: File Write Access in App Group Container Denied Despite Proper Entitlements
I'm developing a TTS Audio Unit Extension that needs to write trace/log files to a shared App Group container. While the main app can successfully create and write files to the container, the extension gets sandbox denied errors despite having proper App Group entitlements configured. MusicKit: Best way to check if all tracks of albums are added to library.
I prefer to use the album fetched from the library instead of the catalog since this is faster. If doing so, how can I check if all tracks of an album are added to the library. In this case I'd like to fetch the catalog version or throw an error (for example when offline). Using .with(.tracks) on the library album fetches the tracks added to the library. The trackCount property is referring to the tracks that can be fetched from the library. The isComplete property is always nil when fetching from the library. One possible way is checking the trackNumber and discCount properties. However this only detects that not all tracks of an album are added to the library if there is a song not added ahead of one that is. I'd like to be able to handle this edge case as well. Is there currently a way to do this? I'd prefer to not rely on the apple music catalog for this since this is supposed to work offline as well. Fetching and storing all trackIDs when connected and later comparing against these would work, but this would potentially mean storing tens of thousands of track ids. Thank you

Apple News Publisher: How To Successfully Apply
Hi there, Can anyone tell me how to possibly get approved as an Apple News Publisher in 2025? We attempted in 2024, but received this message from Apple support: "Thank you for your interest in Apple News. At this time, we're not accepting new applications." When I inquired further, I got this second response: "Apple News is no longer accepting unsolicited applications. To learn more about Apple News requirements, visit the Apple News support page. If you have any feedback, please use this form to send us your comments. Keep in mind that while we read all feedback, we are unable to respond to each submission individually." My questions are: Is this still the case? (Especially when you are a legit local news outlet) Is there a link to apply as a news publisher? I don't seem to have that option at all. New API to control front camera orientation like native Camera app on iPhone 17 with iOS 26?
The iPhone 17’s front camera with the new 18MP square sensor and iOS 26’s Center Stage feature can auto-rotate between portrait and landscape like the native iOS Camera app. Is there a Swift or AVFoundation API that allows developers to manually control front camera orientation in the same way the native Camera app does? Or is this auto-rotation strictly handled by the system without public API access?

macOS sample for AVAudioEngine recording with playthrough
Hi, I'm still stuck getting a basic record-with-playthrouh pipeline to work. Has anyone a sample of setting up a AVAudioEngine pipeline for recording with playthrough? Plkaythrough works with AVPlayerNode as input but not with any microphone input. The docs mention the "enabled state" of the outputNode of the engine without explaining the concept, i.e. how to enable an output. When the engine renders to and from an audio device, the AVAudioSession category and the availability of hardware determines whether an app performs output. Check the output node’s output format (specifically, the hardware format) for a nonzero sample rate and channel count to see if output is in an enabled state. Well, in my setup the output is NOT enabled, and any attempt to switch (e.g. audioEngine.outputNode.auAudioUnit.setDeviceID(deviceID) )/ attach a dedicated device / ... results in exceptions / errors

Does HEVC VideoToolbox support temporal layering of streams with B-frames?
context:Explore low-latency video encoding with VideoToolbox https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2021/10158/ I see above post said HEVC VideoToolbox can support SVC, temporal layering of streams in low-latency mode with all P frames. my question is that Does HEVC VideoToolbox support temporal layering of streams with B-frames ?? thanks

CoreMIDI driver - flow control
Hi, when a CoreMIDI driver controls physical HW it is probably quite commune to have to control the amount of MIDI data received from the system. What comes to mind is to just delay returning control of the MIDIDriverInterface::Send() callback to the calling process. While the application trying to send MIDI really stalls until the callback returns it seems only to be a side effect of a generally stalled CoreMIDI server. Between the callbacks the application can send as much MIDI data as it wants to CoreMIDI, it's buffering seems to be endless... However the HW might not be able to play out all the data. It seems there is no way to indicate an overflow/full buffer situation back the application/CoreMIDI. How is this supposed to work? Thanks, any hints or pointers are highly appreciated! Hagen.

Help! Green Video stream from iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max with WebRTC
I'm at my wit's end with a problem I'm facing while developing an app. The app is designed to send video captured on an iPhone to a browser application for real-time display. While it works on many older iPhone models, whenever I test it on an iPhone 17 Pro or 17 Pro Max, the video displayed in the browser becomes a solid green screen, or a colorful, garbled image that's mostly green. I've been digging into this, and my main suspicion is an encoding failure. It seems the resolution of the ultra-wide and telephoto cameras was significantly increased on the 17 Pro and Pro Max (from 12MP to 48MP), and I think this might be overwhelming the encoder. I'm really hoping someone here has encountered a similar issue or has any suggestions. I'm open to any information or ideas you might have. Please help! AVAudioMixerNode outputVolume range?
According to the header file the outputVolume properties supported range is 0.0-1.0: /*! @property outputVolume @abstract The mixer's output volume. @discussion This accesses the mixer's output volume (0.0-1.0, inclusive). @property (nonatomic) float outputVolume; However when setting the volume to 2.0 the audio does indeed play louder. Is the header file out of date and if so, what is the supported range for outputVolume? Thanks

Graceful shutdown during background audio playback.
Hello. My team and I think we have an issue where our app is asked to gracefully shutdown with a following SIGTERM. As we’ve learned, this is normally not an issue. However, it seems to also be happening while our app (an audio streamer) is actively playing in the background. From our perspective, starting playback is indicating strong user intent. We understand that there can be extreme circumstances where the background audio needs to be killed, but should it be considered part of normal operation? We hope that’s not the case. All we see in the logs is the graceful shutdown request. We can say with high certainty that it’s happening though, as we know that playback is running within 0.5 seconds of the crash, without any other tracked user interaction. Can you verify if this is intended behavior, and if there’s something we can do about it from our end. From our logs it doesn’t look to be related to either memory usage within the app, or the system as a whole. Best, John

Ducking MusicKit output when playing another sound

Mute behavior of Volume button on AVPlayerViewController iOS 26
With older iOS versions, when user taps Mute/Volume button on AVPLayerViewController to unmute, the system restores the sound volume of device to the level when user muted before. On iOS 26, when user taps unmute button on screen, the volume starts from 0 (not restore). (but it still restores if user unmutes by pressing physical volume buttons). As I understand, the Volume bar/button on AVPlayerViewController is MPVolumeView, and I can not control it. So this is a feature of the system. But I got complaints that this is a bug. I did not find documents that describe this change of Mute button behavior. I need some bases to explain this situation. Thank you.

About the built-in instrument sound of Apple devices
Does anyone know how to pronounce the sound of a specific instrument when you tap a button on the screen on your iPhone or iPad? Now, in the middle of creating a music learning app, I'm thinking of assigning monotones or chords to the button-like frames on the keyboard and fingerboard on the screen. Can it be achieved with SwiftUI chords alone? Once upon a time, MIDI level 1 I remember that there was a pronunciation function of the instrument, but I don't think about implementing the same function in the current OS. Please lend me your wisdom.

AVPlayerView with .inline controlsStyle macOS 26
My audio app shows a control bar at the bottom of the window. The controls show nicely, but there is a black "slab" appearing behind the inline controls, the same size as the playerView. Setting the player view background color does nothing: playerView.wantsLayer = true playerView.layer?.backgroundColor = NSColor.clear.cgColor How can I clear the background? If I use .floating controlsStyle, I don't get the background "slab".
