Safari application not fetched from system_profile command
Use case -
We are trying to get list of installed applications in the mac. For this we use System_profiler command to fetch the details list. It is working good, but the thing is , It doesnt fetch Safari app as an installed Application.
Command used -
**/usr/sbin/system_profiler SPApplicationsDataType**
Can anyone suggest any other way to fetch the installed applications list from the mac , which includes all the apps (including safari app) and remains effective ?
Hello,
We are currently deploying Apple devices in our organization using Apple Business Manager (ABM) and are looking for a long-term self-hosted MDM solution.
We initially considered MicroMDM, but since official support will end in December 2025, we are evaluating NanoMDM.
I would like to confirm:
Is NanoMDM a stable and production-ready option for long-term use with Apple Business Manager and Automated Device Enrollment (ADE)?
Does NanoMDM support all essential features like:
Supervision
Remote wipe
App deployment
Configuration profiles
Are there any limitations or known issues with using NanoMDM?
Are there any other open-source or lightweight MDM solutions Apple developers recommend that are actively maintained?
We are aiming for a reliable, secure, and future-proof self-hosted MDM setup.
Any guidance or shared experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Vijay Pratap Singh

In the RequestRequiresNetworkTether property, the definition of “network-tethered” is unclear, and there seems to be a discrepancy between the actual behavior and the description in the documentation.
We would like to clarify the definition of the connection state that “network-tethered” means and the specific behavior requirements when the property is set to true.
Explanation of the document
The description “If true, the device must be network-tethered to run the command.
I was not sure whether it refers to “network connection” or “tethered communication” as the Japanese translation.
Actual operation verification results
The error message was “The device is not tethered. (MDMErrorDomain:12081)”.
Error occurs when only carrier communication is used
The following connection conditions work normally (as in the case of false)
Wifi communication
Combination of carrier communication and Wifi communication
Tethering communication
Combination of carrier communication and tethering communication
Tethering connection (both parent and child devices)
Inconsistencies
Although the document description could be interpreted as a simple network connection requirement, actual operation is limited only to carrier communications alone
Error message uses language regarding tethering, but actual tethering connection works fine

I applied over a month ago and haven't heard back to the Apple Small Business Program. What should I do to speed things up?
Hi
We've had an Enterprise Developer a/c for years. But last year they asked a bunch a questions to confirm we were a company. I answered them all and then it said it would review the answers. Were a big company and answered these questions before so just expected it to go through.
Then our Enterprise Program a/c was up for renewal in April. But the money was never taken from the company cc and every expiry date the renewal date keeps moving forward a month. Its now been moved to Sep 2025. Either were getting April-Sep free or were going to be landed with a CC bill for 12+5 months soon. Anyone else seeing this.
Is there an email or webpage for Enterprise a/c support? We have the money :)
I am trying to correctly manage about 20 Mac, iPhones and PC
inside a Wi-Fi network built through
System Settings > Sharing > Internet Sharing
To achieve this task I defined a complete configuration file:
/etc/bootpd.plist
which is used by /usr/libexec/InternetSharing.
But every time /usr/libexec/InternetSharing is starting
the file /etc/bootpd.plist is overwritten by another file and my configuration
is thus fully lost.
How to set a correct /etc/bootps.plist file and avoid its total overwrite
by /usr/libexec/InternetSharing?
Is it necessary to write this bootpd.plist in some other directory for
/usr/libexec/InternetSharing to load it without destroying it?
I got the same configuration total erase on macOS Big Sur and Sequoia.
Hello,
I’m facing an issue while trying to add iOS devices to Apple Business Manager (ABM) using Apple Configurator during enrollment. When going through the setup process, the device fails to complete enrollment and times out.
I’ve tried it multiple times. The device does appear in ABM during the process and I am able to assign it to different MDM servers but since the setup times out and fails, the device is automatically released. I have tried this with multiple iOS devices and it times out on every single one of them.
Steps attempted:
Factory reset and re-enrollment of the device
Ensured network connectivity is stable and tested on multiple Wi-Fi networks
Tried the following process using Apple Configurator on Mac (wired):
Created a Wi-Fi profile in Configurator
Connected the iPhone via cable and used Prepare (manual configuration)
Used the “MDM server” placeholder and trusted anchors (as recommended)
Linked the device to the ABM organization
Skipped Setup Assistant steps
Attached the Wi-Fi profile, then prepared and wiped the device
Verified that the device should appear in ABM
Attempted to assign the device to my MDM in ABM
Despite these checks, the enrollment process times out.
I’m attaching a screenshot of the error for reference.
Could someone advise what might be causing this timeout or how I can further troubleshoot this? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

How to test ManagedAppConfigurationProvider without MDM ?
Task { /* Configuration provider task */
for await configuration in configurationProvider.configurations(MyAppConfiguration.self) {
self.configuration = configuration ?? MyAppConfiguration.defaultConfiguration
}
}
Can the existence of a configuration be simulated, e.g. by storing a mocked configuration in UserDefaults? The UserDefaults key "com.apple.configuration.managed" seems not relevant here.

We’re looking for best practices to remotely update iOS apps that are deployed in Single App Mode (SAM) or Autonomous Single App Mode (ASAM), managed through MDM.
Imagine a typical use case: an iPad installed as a self-service kiosk at an airport restaurant. We need to update the app periodically without:
Displaying any prompts to the user
Relying on the user to approve or initiate the update (since the device is unattended)
Sending technicians onsite, as many devices are in remote locations
MDM providers have stated, “This is how Apple handles it,” without offering a workable solution. We’re hoping someone here has experience or suggestions for:
Seamless or silent app updates in SAM/ASAM
Update workflows that avoid interruptions or user interaction
Any proven strategies or automation options under MDM supervision
Any insight or documented approaches would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hello,
I am an iOS developer managing an MDM app.
In this app, we are only using the camera restriction feature.
Can the MDM status (specifically, the camera state) be changed while the user's screen is locked?
We want to communicate with our server in the background and apply changes, but there is no known information about this.
I would appreciate your help!

We are experiencing a critical issue where VPP app installations are consistently taking an excessive amount of time, leading to significant delays in asset association. We are deployionThis is a systemic problem that affects all VPP apps, not just an isolated case.
Apps:
39470db7-e475-4269-9709-c80641657027 =>
com.zimride.instant
d0876900-2579-463e-99f1-b7c85ef5c5e8
com.microsoft.azureauthenticator
Troubleshooting:
We have performed extensive troubleshooting and can confirm the following:
VPP Token: The VPP token has been successfully renewed and is currently active and valid.
License Availability: We've verified that there are sufficient VPP licenses available for the apps being deployed.
Device Status: We've attempted the following on the affected devices:
Restarted the devices.
Switched to different Wi-Fi networks.
Uninstalled and re-installed the apps.
App Status: The issue is not limited to a single app; all VPP apps are failing to install.
License Revocation: We attempted to revoke and reassign licenses for some devices, but this did not resolve the issue. The app was not pushed, and the pending status remained.
Troubleshooting:
Through our internal investigation, we have determined that the core issue is that the Asset Association Status is consistently taking excessive time. This seems to be preventing the app installation queue from processing.
We have observed a significant delay in the processing of events within the Notification Channel. The time between the event being created and a response being received is excessively long, indicating a potential backlog or issue. We have included a few recent examples below for your reference:
Event ID: 39470db7-e475-4269-9709-c80641657027
com.zimride.instant
Created Time: 2025-08-26 01:02:04
Response Time: 2025-08-26 01:34:05
Event ID: d0876900-2579-463e-99f1-b7c85ef5c5e8
com.microsoft.azureauthenticator
Created Time: 2025-08-25 21:16:29
Response Time: 2025-08-25 22:21:07
We would appreciate your help in the following areas:
Resolution: Could you provide any known solutions or workarounds for an asset association status that is taking excessive amount of time'?
Best Practices: Are there any recommended best practices or additional parameters we should be checking with the MDM that might influence the queueing of VPP app assignments?
Queueing Parameters: Could you provide insight into the parameters or conditions that can affect the queueing and processing of VPP app installations on Apple's servers?
Please let us know if there is any additional information or logs we can provide.

Issue Description:
We are experiencing MDM profile installation failures specifically on iPhone 17
devices. After extensive testing and comparison between affected and working
devices, we suspect this appears to be a parameter transmission error rather
than device settings.
Technical Analysis:
Device Settings Comparison: No differences found between problematic and
working devices in system settings, indicating this is not a configuration
issue.
Suspected Parameter Transmission Error:
• Device model information appears to be restricted or blocked during profile
download
• User ID and phone number parameters are not being transmitted to the server
• Installation logs show missing login ID and phone number entries
Symptoms:
• During MDM profile installation, the "Apps & Restrictions" section that should
appear is missing
• Profile download parameters are suspected to not be properly transmitted to
the server
• Installation process fails at the profile configuration stage
Critical Finding:
When we cloned a previously working device to create a problematic device
configuration, the cloned device also began experiencing the same installation
failures. This strongly suggests the issue is related to device-specific
parameters or identifiers.
Additional Information:
We continue to receive reports of this issue from our iPhone 17 users, and these
reports are occurring across various iOS versions.
Request for Assistance:
Has anyone encountered similar MDM profile installation issues on iPhone 17? Are
there known limitations or changes in how device parameters are transmitted
during MDM enrollment on this model?
Any guidance on debugging parameter transmission or known workarounds would be
greatly appreciated.

I'm the IT Admin in my company. We use Microsoft Intune, which is a Mobile Device Management tool, to manage our devices and apps. I created an app protection policy, restricting the data can only be shared between the allowed apps. For example, if our user want to copy the content in Outlook for iOS to WeChat or personal memo, the action will be blocked.
However, may be it's too strict, here is the scenario that we need to hadle: A user selected the content in the Outlook for iOS mail, and wanted to use the "translate" function to do translation. Before the app protection policy was deployed, he can do the translation successfully. And now, it's blocked.
Therefore, we need to find a way to exempt the app "Translate" so that users can do the translation successfully. We put the value "com.apple.Translate"(this is a package ID listed in the official document of Apple) to the exemption, but it's not working.
May I know what is the correct "value" for the iOS native Translate APP? I need to put this value to our app protection policy to exempt Translate app.
Thank you so much.
Hi everyone,
I’m sharing this because I’ve been stuck with this issue for over two weeks, and I still haven’t found a solution — or received a meaningful response from Apple Support.
A yellow banner has appeared on my account saying:
“The Apple Developer Program License Agreement has been updated and needs to be reviewed.”
But here’s the problem:
I’ve already accepted the latest agreement long ago.
When I log into both:
App Store Connect
Developer Portal
…there’s no new agreement to accept, no prompt, no button — absolutely nothing new. The yellow banner simply refuses to go away, and it's preventing updates.
I’ve already:
Cleared cache & cookies
Tried Safari, Chrome, Firefox
Logged in from different devices/networks
Verified that I am the Account Holder
Reported the issue via Apple Developer Support (more than a week ago)
Despite clearly stating the urgency of the matter, I’ve received no fix and no timeline. This is beginning to feel like developers’ time — especially for those who depend on timely releases — isn’t being taken seriously.
So I’m writing here to ask:
🔹 Has anyone else encountered this same issue recently?
🔹 Is there any known workaround or fix?
I’d appreciate any help or shared experience.
Thank you.

Hi everyone,
I want to enable Single App Mode (SAM) for my custom app that’s installed on the device.
However, my device is not supervised.
Is there any way to:
Enable Single App Mode without supervising the device?
Any guidance or workaround would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Device Management
We are trying to develop an app that will be responsible for managing 5000+ managed iPads through Intune MDM. The user flow is to have a device locked to a single app when a user is not logged in, but to make the device available to other apps once a user is authenticated.
We already tried UIAccessibility GuidedAccess Mode and autonomous single app mode but those were not sufficient due to our need to be able to toggle this from the background. When the device may be asleep.
So another way we could achieve this functionality would be to control all app access under a launching mechanism. That way we could allow one app to be visible in our MDM configuration and try to access our business app through that using deep links.
If this were to work, we would have to be able to hide an app and still make it launchable from the manager.
Any ideas? Thanks
Hi everyone,
We manage several macs through Microsoft Intune. We've deployed Platform SSO using the password based method (not the Secure Enclave) and have also enforced filevault encryption through policy.
What we're trying to achieve is that multiple users can log into the same Mac. For example, I (the initial enrolling user) can log in without issues. However, we want a colleague to be able to log in as well if they're physically in front of the mac.
The challenge we've run into is that once filevault is enabled (We're not sure about it but reading on forums it seems that the problem is filevault), it seems the network is not available at the login screen. This means that while the first user can create a mobile account and log in, a second user can't do the same. The moment we try to log in with another set of credentials, we get an immediate error and the password field shakes instantly, suggesting it's not even reaching out to the network or directory to validate the credentials.
We'd like to confirm if this behavior is expected when FileVault is active and whether the only solution is to disable FileVault or if there are alternative solutions to allow network connectivity at the login screen.
Essentially, we want to know if there's a way to let a second user log in without having to turn off disk encryption.
Or if we can pre-authorize a set of users on the mac in order to create all the mobile account needed..
Thanks in advance!
Thomas
