Using any SwiftData Query causes app to hang
I want to get to a point where I can use a small view with a query for my SwiftData model like this: @Query private var currentTrainingCycle: [TrainingCycle] init(/*currentDate: Date*/) { _currentTrainingCycle = Query(filter: #Predicate<TrainingCycle> { $0.numberOfDays > 0 // $0.startDate < currentDate && currentDate < $0.endDate }, sort: \.startDate) } The commented code is where I want to go. In this instance, it'd be created as a lazy var in a viewModel to have it stable (and not constantly re-creating the view). Since it was not working, I thought I could check the same view with a query that does not require any dynamic input. In this case, the numberOfDays never changes after instantiation. But still, each time the app tries to create this view, the app becomes unresponsive, the CPU usage goes at 196%, memory goes way high and the device heats up quickly. Am I holding it wrong? How can I have a dynamic predicate on a View in SwiftUI with SwiftData?

Using Automator
Hi Here is my problem. I have a large number of portrait pictures in my adobe lightroom catalogue which I need to email to the subjects of the portraits. These peoples names and email addresses are stored in my pictures metadata and I am able to export the pictures with accompanying text or CSV files containing the names & addresses. What I want to do is export the pictures in bulk and automagically create and send individual emails for each picture, preferably with the persons name in the salutation at the start of the email. I have done some googling trying to find a solution to this. I think that I need to use automator. (The lightroom option of mailing directly from within the programme isn't going to do the job, each mail would need to be addressed and written by hand each time). I have been playing around with it, but can see no way to populate the email address field or add the attachment. Can anyone help me out, with even just the basic outline, of how this would be achieved please?

repeat subscription
After the user initiates the subscription payment, the SDK returns an error type: user cancels. When the user initiates the payment again, Apple will deduct the payment twice and successfully deduct the previously cancelled SKU. This is a recent occurrence with a large amount of data, and the app has not been upgraded in any way. We need to seek help. Thank you

Notification Delivery Issues for Location Push Service Extension
We are currently testing the implementation of our Location Push Service Extension (LPSE) in both Ad Hoc and Release environments. We have encountered an issue where LPSE notifications, which were previously working correctly, suddenly fail to be delivered on some devices. After a period of several hours, the notifications resume arriving, but the issue remains intermittent. Notably, during these periods of suspected delivery restriction, regular push notifications (e.g., those using apns-push-type: alert) are delivered and displayed without any problem. [Detailed Situation] Test Environment and Scope We are testing LPSE after obtaining the necessary entitlements, in both Ad Hoc and Release environments. The issue is not observed on all test devices; only certain devices are affected. Observed Behavior Under normal circumstances, LPSE notifications are received and the extension is activated; however, on some devices the notifications suddenly stop arriving. During these periods, even when sending notifications with apns-push-type: location directly via the CloudKit Push Notification Console, no response is observed on the affected devices. The APNs server (api.push.apple.com) always returns a 200 OK response via HTTP/2, and our server-side logs and configurations (DNS resolution performed on every request, using the same JWT token for 59 minutes per session, communication via HTTP/2 with ALPN Protocol: h2) show no issues. Other app functionalities (network communication, UI responsiveness, etc.) work normally. Sending content When sending notifications from our server to APNs (api.push.apple.com), we use the following configuration (over HTTP/2): const payload = { aps: { 'content-available': 1 } }; const headers = { ':method': 'POST', ':path': /3/device/${apnsToken}, 'Authorization': bearer ${jwtToken}, 'apns-topic': 'ot.Here.location-query', 'apns-priority': '10', 'apns-push-type': 'location', 'Content-Type': 'application/json' }; We perform DNS resolution for every request, use the same JWT token for a 59-minute period per session, and communicate via HTTP/2 with ALPN Protocol: h2. Hypothesis on the Cause We suspect that due to an implementation issue, silent push notifications (using content-available: 1) were being sent every few minutes concurrently, which may have triggered an APNs delivery restriction (rate limiting). As a countermeasure, we have completely stopped sending silent pushes and any other background notifications aside from LPSE; however, the issue persists. Additionally, even after resetting affected devices, the delivery problem continues to occur. [Questions for Diagnosis] Given the above situation, is it reasonable to suspect that excessive silent push notifications have triggered an APNs delivery restriction? Does such a silent push restriction affect LPSE notifications (i.e., those sent with apns-push-type: location)? Do APNs delivery restrictions persist even after a device has been reset? Can a high volume of LPSE notifications alone (without silent pushes) also trigger a delivery restriction? → This is our primary concern since it poses a significant implementation challenge. Please let us know if any additional information is required for diagnosis.

Difficulties with Get Contents of URL
I’ve created several shortcuts that tell me the stock price of a given company. The shortcut queries Yahoo Finance using Get Contents of URL, with the URL https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/TICKER SYMBOL/, for example https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/PLTR/ for Palantir or https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL/ for Apple, etc. Then it uses RegEx to parse out the numbers which it then formats and displays in a notification. Simple. It works great for several stocks, but for some reason, it does not work correctly for Palantir. It shows an older “previous close” price. Oddly, when I go to the website myself, it shows me the current stock price. So for today Mar 21 https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/PLTR/ shows me $90.96 (correct) but the shortcut, via Get Contents of URL, shows $87.39 (incorrect). This $87.39 price is listed further down in the page as a "previous close” price. I don’t get it. Here is a link to my Palantir shortcut: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/edea6ee0261245f49b078efc74d632dd Here is a link to my Apple shortcut: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/54a416393203432aa356fe76373e3f8b So the question is, why does Get Contents of URL show an old stock price but when I go to the site myself, it shows the correct stock price … and only for Palantir? I have about six shortcuts running correctly. Palantir is the only one that does not work. Been banging my head on this one for weeks. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you, Rob

Testing iOS Smart Banner in Debug or Non-Production Mode.
Hello, I'm currently working with Smart App Banners and trying to test how they appear and behave on iOS. However, I need to test the Smart Banner in a debug or non-production environment to ensure everything works as expected. According to the documentation for Smart App Banners (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/webkit/promoting-apps-with-smart-app-banners?language=objc), it appears that the banner only shows in production builds or live apps. Is there any way to trigger or test the Smart Banner in a debug mode or non-production environment? Any advice or workaround for testing this feature would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Bluetooth

iCloud Mail being rejected by Barracuda Email Protection due to missing PTR record.
My client is using iCloud Mail with his custom domain and he communicated with many govt organizations which seem to all be using Barracuda Email Protection for their spam prevention. I have properly configured his SPF, DKIM & DMARC DNS records however his emails were still being rejected. (Email header below) I contacted Barracuda support with the email header and they replied saying that the emails were rejected becuase Apple Mail has missing PTR records. I have sent dozens of emails for testing and looking at all their headers I can see (ms-asmtp-me-k8s.p00.prod.me.com [17.57.154.37]) which does not have a PTR record. ----FULL EMAIL HEADER WITH 3RD PARTY DOMAINS REMOVED----- <recipient_email_address>: host d329469a.ess.barracudanetworks.com[209.222.82.255] said: 550 permanent failure for one or more recipients (recipient_email_address:blocked) (in reply to end of DATA command) Reporting-MTA: dns; p00-icloudmta-asmtp-us-west-3a-100-percent-10.p00-icloudmta-asmtp-vip.icloud-mail-production.svc.kube.us-west-3a.k8s.cloud.apple.com X-Postfix-Queue-ID: 8979C18013F8 X-Postfix-Sender: rfc822; sender_email_address Arrival-Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2025 12:30:05 +0000 (UTC) Final-Recipient: rfc822; @****** Original-Recipient: rfc822;recipient_email_address Action: failed Status: 5.0.0 Remote-MTA: dns; d329469a.ess.barracudanetworks.com Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 permanent failure for one or more recipients (recipient_email_address:blocked) Return-Path: <sender_email_address> DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=sender_domain; s=sig1; bh=CyUt/U7mIHwXB5OQctPjRH/OxLH7GsLR54JjGuRkj9Y=; h=From:Message-Id:Content-Type:Mime-Version:Subject:Date:To:x-icloud-hme; b=hwEbggsctiCRlMlEgovBTjB/0sPRCb2k+1wzHRZ2dZNrZdOqvFSNWU+Aki9Bl8nfv eEOoXz5qWxO2b2rEBl08lmRQ3hCyroayIn4keBRrgkxL1uu4zMTaDUHyau2vVnzC3h ZmwQtQxiu7QvTS/Sp8jjJ/niOPSzlfhphqMxnQAZi/jmJGcZPadT8K+7+PhRllVnI+ TElJarN1ORQu+CaPGhEs9/F7AIcjJNemnVg1cude7EUuO9va8ou49oFExWTLt7YSMl s+88hxxGu3GugD3eBnitzVo7s7/O9qkIbDUjk3w04/p/VOJ+35Mvi+v/zB9brpYwC1 B4dZP+AhwJDYA== Received: from smtpclient.apple (ms-asmtp-me-k8s.p00.prod.me.com [17.57.154.37]) by p00-icloudmta-asmtp-us-west-3a-100-percent-10.p00-icloudmta-asmtp-vip.icloud-mail-production.svc.kube.us-west-3a.k8s.cloud.apple.com (Postfix) with ESMTPSA id 8979C18013F8; Thu, 20 Mar 2025 12:30:05 +0000 (UTC) From: Marcel Brunel <sender_email_address> Message-Id: <2E8D69EA-FCA6-4F5D-9D42-22A955C073F6@sender_domain> Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="Apple-Mail=_F9AC7D29-8520-4B25-9362-950CB20ADEC5" Mime-Version: 1.0 (Mac OS X Mail 16.0 (3826.400.131.1.6)) Subject: Re: [EXTERNAL] - Re: Brunel - 2024 taxes Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2025 07:29:27 -0500 In-Reply-To: <SA0PR18MB350300DE7274C018F66EEA24F2D82@SA0PR18MB3503_namprd18_prod_outlook_com> To: Troy Womack <recipient_email_address> References: <SA0PR18MB350314D0B88E283C5C8E1BB6F2DE2@SA0PR18MB3503_namprd18_prod_outlook_com> <9B337A3E-D373-48C5-816F-C1884BDA6F42@sender_domain> <SA0PR18MB350341A7172E8632D018A910F2D82@SA0PR18MB3503_namprd18_prod_outlook_com> <SA0PR18MB350300DE7274C018F66EEA24F2D82@SA0PR18MB3503_namprd18_prod_outlook_com> X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.3826.400.131.1.6) X-Proofpoint-ORIG-GUID: uqebp2OIbPqBr3dYsAxdFVkCNbM5Cxyl X-Proofpoint-GUID: uqebp2OIbPqBr3dYsAxdFVkCNbM5Cxyl X-Proofpoint-Virus-Version: vendor=baseguard engine=ICAP:2.0.293,Aquarius:18.0.1093,Hydra:6.0.680,FMLib:17.12.68.34 definitions=2025-03-20_03,2025-03-19_01,2024-11-22_01 X-Proofpoint-Spam-Details: rule=notspam policy=default score=0 bulkscore=0 clxscore=1030 suspectscore=0 mlxlogscore=999 mlxscore=0 phishscore=0 malwarescore=0 spamscore=0 adultscore=0 classifier=spam adjust=0 reason=mlx scancount=1 engine=8.19.0-2411120000 definitions=main-2503200077

Sleep Samples sum off by 2 minutes
Hi everyone! I'm trying to get the total sleep time for a given day, but users report that there's a difference between what my app reports and what the Apple Health app reports. In particular, we're off by 2 minutes less on average. What we're doing is: Get all the samples that are either core, deep, rem or unspecified Cut-off time at 3 PM previous day Merge overlapping intervals Add all the remaining intervals For debugging purposes I'm storing and sending all the raw samples to a server, and I have run tests and I don't find anything wrong. It looks like the number we come up with is correct according to our own rules. I wonder, how is Apple adding up all the samples to arrive at a number that's slightly off to our number. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Data Transfer or Upload to Cloudkit in Published Mode
So i created an App and for some time it was working fine. The app has features to show pdf to users without logging in. I needed to upload all data to cloudkit on public database. I was not having knowledge that there are 2 mode being a noob in coding so after i saved all records in development mode in cloudkit when i published my app, i was not able to see them (Reason because live mode works in Production mode). So i need help now to transfer data from development mode to production mode or any app or code that can help me upload all data in production mode.

Auto Renew Subscription Model
Hi, I want to offer an auto-renewable subscription (e.g., $1/month) that grants users (10 document analyses per month), with the count resetting at the start of each billing cycle. -Unused analyses will not roll over to the next month- Additionally, any analyses generated while the subscription is active will remain accessible to the user permanently, even if they cancel the subscription. The paywall, app description, and metadata will clearly state that the subscription grants (10 document analyses per month with no rollover) We want this to be implemented as an auto-renewable subscription model, not as a consumable service or a token/credit system (which we want to avoid). Is this model acceptable under Apple’s guidelines, or would it be considered a token/credit system? Any insights or alternative suggestions would be appreciated.. Thanks

Universal Links: Is the 'paths' Array Deprecated in Favor of 'components' in AASA?
Hello! I'm working with universal links in my app and have configured the /.well-known/apple-app-site-association file. Currently, I use the paths array in this file to define URL routing rules. However, I’m struggling to find up-to-date documentation on the pattern syntax supported by the paths field. "paths": [ "/page/*", "NOT /page/*/subpage" ] Could someone clarify: Is the paths array still officially supported, or is it deprecated in favor of the newer components dictionary (as referenced here https://developer.apple.com/documentation/bundleresources/applinks/details-swift.dictionary/components-swift.dictionary)? If paths is still valid, where can I find documentation for its pattern-matching capabilities? I want to ensure my implementation aligns with Apple’s current best practices. Thank you!

Accuracy of IBI Values Measured by Apple Watch
I am currently developing an app that measures HRV to estimate stress levels. To align the values more closely with those from Galaxy devices, I decided not to use the heartRateVariabilitySDNN value provided by HealthKit. Instead, I extracted individual interbeat intervals (IBI) using the HKHeartBeatSeries data. Can I obtain accurate IBI data using this method? If not, I would like to know how I can retrieve more precise data. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Here is a sample code I tried. @Observable class HealthKitManager: ObservableObject { let healthStore = HKHealthStore() var ibiValues: [Double] = [] var isAuthorized = false func requestAuthorization() { let types = Set([ HKSeriesType.heartbeat(), HKQuantityType.quantityType(forIdentifier: .heartRateVariabilitySDNN)!, ]) healthStore.requestAuthorization(toShare: nil, read: types) { success, error in DispatchQueue.main.async { self.isAuthorized = success if success { self.fetchIBIData() } } } } func fetchIBIData() { var timePoints: [TimeInterval] = [] var absoluteStartTime: Date? let dateFormatter = DateFormatter() dateFormatter.timeZone = TimeZone(identifier: "Asia/Seoul") dateFormatter.dateFormat = "yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.SSS" var calendar = Calendar.current calendar.timeZone = TimeZone(identifier: "Asia/Seoul") ?? .current var components = DateComponents() components.year = 2025 components.month = 4 components.day = 3 components.hour = 15 components.minute = 52 components.second = 0 let startTime = calendar.date(from: components)! components.hour = 16 components.minute = 0 let endTime = calendar.date(from: components)! let predicate = HKQuery.predicateForSamples(withStart: startTime, end: endTime, options: .strictStartDate) let sortDescriptor = NSSortDescriptor(key: HKSampleSortIdentifierStartDate, ascending: false) let query = HKSampleQuery(sampleType: HKSeriesType.heartbeat(), predicate: predicate, limit: HKObjectQueryNoLimit, sortDescriptors: [sortDescriptor]) { (_, samples, _) in if let sample = samples?.first as? HKHeartbeatSeriesSample { absoluteStartTime = sample.startDate let startDateKST = dateFormatter.string(from: sample.startDate) let endDateKST = dateFormatter.string(from: sample.endDate) print("series start(KST):\(startDateKST)\tend(KST):\(endDateKST)") let seriesQuery = HKHeartbeatSeriesQuery(heartbeatSeries: sample) { query, timeSinceSeriesStart, precededByGap, done, error in if !precededByGap { timePoints.append(timeSinceSeriesStart) } if done { for i in 1..<timePoints.count { let ibi = (timePoints[i] - timePoints[i-1]) * 1000 // Convert to milliseconds // Calculate absolute time for current beat if let startTime = absoluteStartTime { let beatTime = startTime.addingTimeInterval(timePoints[i]) let beatTimeString = dateFormatter.string(from: beatTime) print("IBI: \(String(format: "%.2f", ibi)) ms at \(beatTimeString)") } self.ibiValues.append(ibi) } } } self.healthStore.execute(seriesQuery) } else { print("No samples found for the specified time range") } } self.healthStore.execute(query) } }
