Shielding all apps
I am trying to create an app that allows users to opt in and apply a shield to all of their apps during a specified amount of time each day, but they can always turn the shield off from our app or directly ignore the shield for 1 minute from a shield button. It is important that the user doesn't choose what apps to apply a shield to through the activity picker, as some users might not apply it to all apps. Currently I am doing everything I described in my app and shield all apps and webdomain categories with this: store.shield.applicationCategories = .all() store.shield.webDomainCategories = .all() But the, store.shield.applicationCategories = .all(), seems to block everything except for some system apps like Messages, Phone, FaceTime, Maps, Clock, Settings, Safari, Find My, Clock, Compass, Health, etc. It does block some system apps like Weather, Photos, Camera, Measure, App Store, etc. I know I can fully block applications from it's bundle identifier but I do not want to remove apps from the home screen. I only want to apply a shield to all of them. I have read every apple documentation possible about this and can't see a way to do it, currently how I am doing it seems to be the best way but it is still not enough. Even blocking a specific category token taken from the activity picker won't apply to some system level applications under it unless you get all the application tokens and apply the shield by applications and not category. I am really looking for help to see if there is something I can do to achieve my app's goal.

Create custom internet account on macOS
Hi, A lot of e-mail providers supports OAuth2 authentication. However, Mail.app on macOS and iOS do not support configuring a mail account that would use OAuth2 authentication, unless it's on its hardcoded list of account providers. Is there any framework that allows setting up a custom account for my institution, so that we could begin to offer OAuth2 authentication for mail and calendar?

AlarmKit - Alarm triggers twice at 00:00 and second fullscreen alarm view becomes unresponsive
When an alarm is scheduled for 00:00, the system displays the fullscreen alarm interface twice. After the second fullscreen view appears, both the “Stop” and “Snooze” buttons become unresponsive, but using the physical button (volume or power button) can dismiss the alarm and correctly trigger the StopIntent. This behavior occurs consistently (100%), whether the system time is set normally or manually adjusted before the alarm triggers. Environment: Device: iPhone 14 Pro Max iOS Version: 26.0 Reproducibility: 100%

App-Site-Association file is wrongly cached
Hi Everyone, When we first hosted our apple-app-site-association file, our hosting provider was unintentionally blocking Apple’s crawler. As a result, Apple’s CDN seems to have cached a timeout / missing file response. We’ve since corrected the issue — the AASA file is now valid and accessible at: https://our-domain.com/.well-known/apple-app-site-association sidenote: I am using "our-domain" as an alias. It is not our actual domain. We have verified that we return a valid JSON, HTTPS 200, correct MIME type. We used apple recommended tools to check this as well as other tools we found on the internet. However, when fetching through the Apple CDN: https://app-site-association.cdn-apple.com/a/v1/our-domain.com we still receive: Apple-Failure-Reason: SWCERR00301 Timeout Apple-Failure-Details: {"cause":"context deadline exceeded (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers)"} This has persisted for several days. Tools like getuniversal.link and yURL show that the CDN works fine in U.S. regions, but in Europe it continues serving the old timeout response. I’ve already opened a support ticket (Case ID: 102734912696), but the current support channel seems to be general developer account assistance rather than technical. They claim they can only assist us with account related issues (even though I used the code-support form...) Can someone please advise or help us escalate this to the appropriate internal team to refresh the Apple CDN cache for our domain? Thank you so much for your time and help.

[macos 15.2 (24C101)] Custom input method does not work as expected
Environment: macOS 15.2 (24C101) with Xcode 16.2 (16C5032a) Goal: I am trying to build a simple IMKInputController-based input method. Problem: My .app bundle registers successfully and I can select it as an input source. When selected, it blocks keyboard input, but my handle method does not seem to execute or produce output. I have placed NSLog statements in my controller's init and handle methods. Code for the controller: import InputMethodKit // The IMKTextInput protocol is provided by the framework. // We don't need to define our own bridging protocol for this test. public class HelloWorldController: IMKInputController { public override init!(server: IMKServer!, delegate: Any!, client inputClient: Any!) { super.init(server: server, delegate: delegate, client: inputClient) NSLog("HelloWorldIME: Controller has been initialized.") } public override func handle(_ event: NSEvent!, client sender: Any!) -> Bool { NSLog("HelloWorldIME: handle() method was called.") // ================== FINAL FIX APPLIED HERE ================== // 1. First, we ensure the client is a fundamental Objective-C object. guard let clientObject = sender as? NSObject else { NSLog("HelloWorldIME: Error - client object is not an NSObject.") return false } NSLog("HelloWorldIME: Successfully cast client to NSObject.") // 2. Now that we have an NSObject, we can safely check if it responds to the selector. let selector = #selector(IMKTextInput.insertText(_:replacementRange:)) if !clientObject.responds(to: selector) { NSLog("HelloWorldIME: Error - client object does not respond to the insertText selector.") return false } NSLog("HelloWorldIME: Client responds to insertText. Preparing to insert text.") // 3. Since we've confirmed it responds, we can now safely treat it as an IMKTextInput // and call the method. let client = clientObject as! IMKTextInput let stringToInsert = "A" let replacementRange = NSRange(location: NSNotFound, length: 0) client.insertText(stringToInsert, replacementRange: replacementRange) NSLog("HelloWorldIME: Called insertText with string '\(stringToInsert)'. Action complete.") // ======================================================== return true } }

Screen Time App Extensions Capabilities
I am building a screen time management app. It has the main app target, and then three extensions - those are the four targets in Xcode. The three extensions are: Shield Device Activity Monitor Device Activity Report Extension I requested "Family Controls (Distribution)" capability from Apple for the main app target / bundle ID, and it got approved. Do I need it for the extensions too? Because previously I had "Family Controls (Development)" for the extensions...

SetFocusFilterIntent `perform()` method is not called on iOS 18 beta
I’ve set up a focus filter, but the perform() method in SetFocusFilterIntent isn't called when the focus mode is toggled on or off on my iPhone since I updated to iOS 18 beta (22A5326f). I can reproduce the issue for my app, but focus filters are also broken for any third-party apps installed on my phone, so I guess it's not specific to how I've implemented my filter intent. This used to work perfectly on iOS 17. I didn't change a single line of code, and it broke completely on the latest iOS 18 beta. I've filed a bug report including a sysdiagnose (FB14715113). To the developers out there, is this something you are also observing in your apps?

Request for Guidance on Deployment to Production Environment
Hello Team, We are currently experiencing a challenge deploying our application to the production environment. This is because the previous deployment was done using an old account, whereas we have now created a new organizational account that we are using to deploy the updated and modified version of the application. Kindly advise on the best practice to resolve this and proceed with the deployment.

Calling [NSUserDefaults objectForKey:] crashes as it attempts to insert nil object into dictionary
Hi, I work at OneSignal, a third-party SDK, and have the following two crash reports submitted by a client for the same issue. Because the crash originates from our SDK, even if the root cause may be elsewhere, the onus is on our team to try to resolve this crash. Additionally, my information is limited as this is not our own crash report. I'm trying to figure out why this crash happens and how we can address it within our SDK. Crash Reported: Fatal Exception: NSInvalidArgumentException [NSMutableDictionary __addObject:forKey:]: object cannot be nil Context: Our SDK makes a call to [NSUserDefaults(NSUserDefaults) objectForKey:] on the standardUserDefaults and passes in a non-null key. It appears further up the call stack, a null value is being added to a dictionary. I assume this is the innards of how the search list is generated. Additional Information: The client states that it seems to happen only once per user and the scale is not extremely high but it is increasing. They are unsure what happened and when. They don't have much information about the devices except it has happened on iOS 18. Universal Links not working with subdomains without AASA on root domain
Hi all, I'm trying to set up universal links for my app but it's not working. What I want: cogover.com → Safari (website) - NOT my app *.cogover.com (any subdomain like abc.cogover.com) → My app What I did: Added applinks:*.cogover.com in Xcode Put AASA files on all subdomains They work fine (checked with curl) Problem: All links still open in Safari, not my app. I do not put AASA on my root domain cogover.com because I don't want open my app with root domain. I have checked TN3155: Debugging universal links | Apple Developer Documentation but it only say about universal link works with both root domain and subdomains. Weird thing I found: I checked how Salesforce does it - their *.force.com subdomains work perfectly. But when I tried to check their setup, (https://force.com/.well-known/apple-app-site-association) doesn't seem to exist either! So how does theirs work? Even stranger - Apple's CDN has their file cached at (https://app-site-association.cdn-apple.com/a/v1/force.com) but the actual domain doesn't serve it. Can Apple's CDN have a file cached even if it's not on the website anymore? Thanks for any help!

Device Activity monitor extension Not working
anyone has the same problem which is that your device activity extension ain't working even tho all the code work perfectly in the console, I setup it in the right way , tried to make schedule and it did the same exact thing when I tried to create usage threshold. anyone know the reason for this bug? here is my extension code import ManagedSettings import FamilyControls import Foundation import OSLog import UserNotifications class MonitoringExtension: DeviceActivityMonitor { private let defaults = UserDefaults(suiteName: "group.com.William.app") private let logger = Logger(subsystem: "com.William.app", category: "MonitoringExtension") override func eventDidReachThreshold(_ event: DeviceActivityEvent.Name, activity: DeviceActivityName) { let activityRaw = activity.rawValue logger.info("Limite atteinte: \(activityRaw)") scheduleNotification(title: "Limite dépassée", body: "Tu as utilisé trop de temps sur \(activityRaw).") guard let data = defaults?.data(forKey: "\(activityRaw)_selection"), let selection = try? JSONDecoder().decode(FamilyActivitySelection.self, from: data) else { logger.warning("Pas de sélection pour \(activityRaw)") return } let store = ManagedSettingsStore() // ← LE SEUL QUI MARCHE store.shield.applications = selection.applicationTokens if !selection.categoryTokens.isEmpty { store.shield.applicationCategories = .specific(selection.categoryTokens) } logger.info("BLOCAGE ACTIF via ManagedSettingsStore.default") } override func intervalDidEnd(for activity: DeviceActivityName) { super.intervalDidEnd(for: activity) let store = ManagedSettingsStore() store.clearAllSettings() // ← Débloque à minuit logger.info("Restrictions levées à la fin de l'intervalle") } private func scheduleNotification(title: String, body: String) { UNUserNotificationCenter.current().requestAuthorization(options: [.alert, .sound]) { granted, _ in guard granted else { return } let content = UNMutableNotificationContent() content.title = title content.body = body let request = UNNotificationRequest(identifier: UUID().uuidString, content: content, trigger: nil) UNUserNotificationCenter.current().add(request) } } }

Call directory extension name not localised in settings iOS 15.3
I have two call directory extensions, each with InfoPlist.strings in en.lproj and nb.lproj directories. In these files I've defined CFBundleDisplayName for both locales. These names are displayed under Settings -> Phone -> Call Blocking & Identification. On iOS 12.2 the names are displayed correctly in both Norwegian and English. Testing on iOS 15.3 the English names are displayed even when device language is set to Norwegian. Worth noting: When updating the English versions of CFBundleDisplayName this is immediately reflected in Call Blocking & Identification page with Norwegian device language. As this feature requires a real device, I'm unable to test on iOS 13 and 14.

iMessage functionality
Hey guys! I've recently noticed a number of PaaS'es and CPaaS'es offering bulk outgoing messaging using the iMessage the same way it's done with the SMS. I always thought that iMessage sort of only allowed businesses to send outgoings subject to user contacting their account first (to avoid being spammed). But then there's those I mentioned above. Have you faced anything like this? Did Apple make changes to the model so that businesses can now initiate conversations with users? If so, how does it work?

Issue with Sticker Pack Extension
I'm unable to have stickers show in messages even with a new iOS app and a sticker pack extension target. I do see the iMessage App Icon but after tapping it nothing shows and I see a warning: "Error creating the CFMessagePort needed to communicate with PPT" This was tested on simulator and on real device. PSA: Call Screening breaks in a multitude of ways; no missed call notifications or badges; not lighting up screen; not visible when using focus;
Call Screening has serious issues right now leading to missing calls from genuine callers because the system does not acknowledge them with missed call notifications or badges in a lot of cases. I'm posting this in the hope of catching an engineer who can bring this to the attention of the teams working on this. Filed as FB20678829 — I ran the following tests with iOS 26.1 beta 3, but the issues have been occurring on iOS 26.0 as well. I used an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac for this. The iPhone has Call Screening enabled with the option „Ask Reason for Calling“ The iPhone has call forwarding enabled to all devices. Test 1: Active Focus Turn on a focus like Do not Disturb on all devices. Lock all devices. Make a phone call to the iPhone with an unknown number. Behavior: iPhone: displays Call Screening UI on the Lock Screen, but it will not light up the screen. You don’t know Call Screening is happening unless you activate the display just in that moment on devices without Always On Display. Watch: does nothing. Mac: does nothing. iPad: displays Call Screening UI on the Lock Screen, but it will not light up the screen. You don’t know Call Screening is happening unless you activate the display just in that moment. In this test the caller does not answer any of the Call Screening questions and just hangs up. The result is that only the Mac displays a missed call notification. iPhone, iPad, and Watch do not acknowledge the missed call (no phone app icon badge, no notification, no badge inside the Phone app itself), you can only see the call inside the Calls list when manually looking for it. Test 2: No Focus Turn off any focus like Do not Disturb on all devices. Mac: displays Call Screening UI when unlocked. iPad: displays Call Screening UI on the Lock Screen, but it will not light up the screen. The only improvement here is that the Mac now shows the Call Screening UI. Test 3: Caller answers Call Screening questions An active focus does not matter. Lock all devices. Make a phone call to the iPhone with an unknown number. Once the caller answered the Call Screening questions, the following happens: All devices ring like expected When the caller hangs up or I don’t answer: Mac: Shows Missed Call notification without details iPhone: Shows Missed Call notification with transcript of Call Screening (also badges phone app icon) iPad: does nothing. Watch: Shows the mirrored iPhone notification. Things to note: When turning off call forwarding on iPhone to other Apple devices like iPad and Mac, the phone app icon is always badged for missed calls when Call Screening was active, but no notification is displayed regardless.
